Brothers caught it, he hasn’t had either dose of vaccine. Dad just called him a mongoloid, hard to disagree, he’s alright just dead tired.

You can say the same every tuesday though. Weekend lag and all that, or as Wayne would call it, an 'upward trend.' I think the point is this was missed cases over and above the usual weekend ‘lull’. And retrospectively adding them just gives too much space for ‘hiding’ the figures in already published data that no one looks back on.

Hopefully that's as bad as it gets for him. As Psycho says, it doesn't fuck about even for the vaccinated.

I'm just coming out of my second bout of the virus. Double jabbed and whatnot. My boy brought it back from school then gave it to the rest of us. He was tired and feverish but recovered and then spent the second half of his isolation bouncing off the walls, thank fuck he's allowed out tomorrow. My Daughter had a really worrying fever, but is mostly over it now as well.
My lungs hurt and I'm totally exhausted - I'm trying to get back to work, but finding it super hard to concentrate for more the 30 minutes. This is much worse than the first time round.

1st time was before Delta and vaccination? Yeah, last Christmas. Also it's been a while since second jab, so I'd be looking for my booster soon if I'd not just had it.

I'm sure 80% of the people I know IRL or from forums who have had Covid in last month or two all say they caught it from their kids who caught it in school. Said it before and I'll say it again, it's insane the government (still) won't acknowledge schools as sources of community transmission and use that as rationale for having no control measures in schools.

Stupid disease carrying kids.

Herd immunity via infection has been their plan all along, who cares how many people die or suffer long term health problems as a result

Yeah, it's clear that herd immunity is/was the plan and unfortunate part of me believes that realistically it's the only long term way out of the pandemic and it's binary choice between herd immunity or indefinite control measures. Pre Delta there was a chance we could achieve herd immunity through vaccinations alone but that didn't come to pass with breakthrough cases and the increased transmissibility. Remember when they hoped vaccinated people wouldn't be able to infect others?

I'm just over a week since first symptoms now and I think realistically another few days until I'm 90%+.
I think it's going to take a bit longer than that for my lungs to recover fully though, and who knows if I'll get my sense of smell back.

If indefinite control measures means wearing masks in crowded indoor spaces and social distancing then I'm honestly fine with that. Other countires seem to manage it and are keeping infection rates down.

I really hope we find out what the plan is over Christmas sooner rather than later. I'm supposed to be going down to London to stay at my sister's place and it'd be nice to have a bit of time to make other arrangements if we're not allowed to be inside together.

I think they are done with plans, too much like work. From here on it is '... still within expected parameters, if towards the high end ...' and '... so proud of our NHS (except GPs who are thieves and cowards) ...' and beyond that, basically fuck off and if you must die, do it quietly.

I'm supposed to be going down to London to stay at my sister's place and it'd be nice to have a bit of time to make other arrangements if we're not allowed to be inside together. Well apparently according to some modellers, cases will soon drop and may even be down to 5K a day by Christmas. This is due to hitting the Herd Immunity Threshold of Delta through sheer numbers of infections (mainly amongst kids over last 6 weeks) as well as 12+ getting jabbed and the booster rollout. I think the chances of another "lockdown" where we aren't allowed in each others' homes is about zero now. Last year, pre vaccinations, 50k daily cases was around 600 daily deaths whereas now it's about 175. Hospital admissions are well under half what they would have been. It's hard to see us ever getting back to the early Jan numbers of 1500+ deaths and 4000+ hospital admissions each day. Crazy to think we hit those figures even with lots of measures in place and now we are doing so much better despite being "fully open/free", no fuckers bothering with masks and up against the Delta strain.

Those hospitalisations were driven by the relaxation of measures though.

Yes they were, but compared to now there was still a shit load of measures. They relaxed them rather than binning them off wholesale with a "freedom day". My point was that in a post vaccine situation I doubt we will ever see another lockdown or even "you can't see your family for Christmas".

Seems that Starmer has COVID now. Second member of the HOC getting it within less than a week.

I can't see them doing another lockdown unless we get a vaccine resistant mutation (which they will probably dither on and act late again). They can't even bring themselves to do "plan B" at the moment and required masks to be worn in crowded spaces including transport.

Ahem...so I've unofficially heard from high ups in a civil service dept that plan B is very much on the cards and should be prepared for sooner rather than later.
No coincidence that vast majority of Tories wearing masks in commons today

In a free society people should be able to define their own level of risk and personal responsibility. That's why the wearing of seatbelts is entirely discretional and why being caught in possession of drugs isn't a criminal offence.

They've been made mandatory for anyone in parliament who isn't an MP so maybe he's trying to avoid looking like a massive hypocrite. Although I admit that does seem out of character for him.
