That too! But I am, perhaps misguidedly, thinking most people will do the right thing if they get a positive.

It's better than nothing, certainly, but they could've easily required you to upload a photo.

There's a version which uses your camera and AI to read the sample strip and automatically reports the result downstream. Proven to be more accurate that humans, but only in use in a handful of settings like adult social care.

My daughter's positive PCR finally came back yesterday. Hopefully they'll take the 10 days from the positive LFT last week, so should be able to go back to school on Monday next week. She's had it v mildly, temperature and snotty nose for a day or two and that's it.

One of the kids at a Birthday event we went to on Saturday has tested positive. Literally the first fucking event with more than 10 people We've been to in 2 years.
You can't test a 4 month old so It's just going to have to be me and his mum testing everyday for 10 days and hoping we don't have it now.

Not too bad cheers. Eldest is back at school today. Wife and I still a bit wiped out, any kind of exertion makes both of us breathless. Not for long, but noticeable. I've also got a banging headache today. The other weird thing about the virus is how some symptoms just disappear overnight. Streaming nose, going through 10 ton of tissues? Gone overnight. Thankfully only my wife has been hit with loss of taste etc - she's well miffed.

I think the loss of taste would probably be the worst thing. Especially reports of it coming back and you not liking the taste of things you used to.

Ok so dying and going deaf is worse. Still though coffee and red wine are the only things that keep the demons at bay so if I went off those I'm not sure what would happen.

I’d be devastated about the taste thing tbf. I’ve been having tinnitus where I can hear my pulse for the last few months, I hope that goes away at some point. Drinking makes the heart palpitations and tinnitus much worse, laying in bed after a few drinks I can’t sleep listening to and feeling the pounding of a drum, Google suggests alcohol intolerance is a sign of post viral syndrome though

mcmonkeyplc My symptoms started 9 days ago with a mild cough. Was fine with just a cough until last Thurs when it then hit me like a train. My wife felt a bit off colour last Monday and then she was hit quickly overnight on Tues and was really rough for a few days. Fri/Sat were the worst. It's an unpleasant illness and not one I want to catch again in a hurry. But probably will.

The general awareness of the HR comes and goes - drinking def makes it worse but it's usually exacerbated by anxiety IME.

Oh yeah, it’s like a domino effect. Notice your your heartbeat, get anxious about it, feel it beating faster, rinse and repeat. I’ve had random anxiety attacks since I was a kid, I’m used to dealing with them now, but never experienced anything like the ones over the last few months

Yup. It's definitely a vicious cycle. Probably a bit of post-viral lumped in as well for good measure.

Our family got hit by what we assumed was COVID last December. It left me knackered for months, has left me with what seems to be permanent asthma (as opposed to asthma which flared up after a chest infection) and for a while it affected my heart. The heart thing was weird, I found that when I was relaxed (like lying in bed about to go to sleep), my heart would start missing a beat and would skip the eighth one. Lasted for a few weeks I was all set to get it looked at by the docs and then had a bad migraine (maybe a coincidence, I don't know) and it was back to normal.

It is from your positive LFT or when symptoms started which ever was earlier, and you are in change of saying then that is when they call / fill in the form and it drives the isolation end date.

Aye, all sorted. Annoying, got family visiting this weekend (not staying) but means my daughter won't get to see them.

I wouldn’t mind the taste thing if it helped me to swap crisps for an occasional salad.

I can't have raw onions in anything anymore as they taste like how a musty tent smells. Certain cuts of pork taste like rotting meat too. I had covid early on and my taste still isn't right. Musty tent should be the replacement for cunt now.

Honestly it's my biggest fear of getting it. It's a pathetic priority to have but I'd end up genuinely depressed if I suddenly stopped liking certain things, or got no taste at all back.

I know it could have been worse but a whole month of no taste and smell was really miserable.

I used to work with a girl who had bumped her head and lost all sense of taste and smell from it. It always baffled me when she was putting away junk food for fun in the office and would always grab a kebab on the way home from a night out. I was always there thinking like, surely you'd get some good out of it and just eat the most clean, boring shit imaginable?

You notice the texture a lot more when you can't taste it. Fish and salad are horrendous without taste.
