If I were the hospital or the doctor, at that point, I would just say 'I'm out.' Hippocratic oath. Darwinism, lesson learned, not that anyone is listening.

I'd be interested to know how many of those people actually had Covid that just wasn't getting picked up by the shitty lateral flow tests. My colleague and her husband both did lateral flows out of curiosity after their PCR had come back positive (and while they had significant symptoms). Both were negative.

Just arranged a flu jab. The soonest I could get one with Lloyds was Feb 2022! Luckily Boots was a bit more reasonable with 20th October. Of this year.

Another eventful night in the Dougs household, after my wife started to struggle to breathe and her she became quite unresponsive. I guessed it was like a hyperventilation episode where the body was just resetting, but didn't want to take any chances. The paramedics were amazing.

Yeah, it does sound like the interesting times you don't want to go through.
Hopefully you are through the worse of it now though.

All fine cheers, O2 etc were all good so they didn't want to take her in (chaos at the hospital apparently). Need to get an O2 monitor, mostly to ease an anxious mind. Was a combo of anxiety, Covid and asthma really.

It was similar to an episode she had at Christmas before the asthma was diagnosed but not exactly the same as she wasn't hyperventilating. Just went downhill quickly.

It can be so scary seeing someone deteriorate so quickly. I've seen it too many times now. Glad to hear she's pulled through. Sooner its all over the better!

Oh dear, Asthma and anxiety are not a good combination at all. (Then again it also works the other way around: if you can tackle one the other becomes easier to deal with)
Good health to all of you

My head hurts how insane the world has become. Maybe it was always insane and social media was the just flashpoint.

Aaagh, on a train. Thought I'd get the early one as it'd be quiet but there's a bunch of scummy youth plague rats obviously coming down from clubbing last night. RIP.
Moved carriage to get away from them when they started playing shitty music on their tinny phone speaker.

The be honest the whole rat-licking aspect has just amplified my loathing for the yoot.
I relish in the idea that in 15 years time their young hopes and dreams will be crushed and they will be just as jaded and cynical as me.

Got back from France yesterday. The Covid testing process is fucking government-sponsored daylight robbery.
To enter France, you sign a piece of paper which says you are vaccinated and don't have Covid. It's pretty pointless, but that's it. Out and about, you have to show your Pass Sanitaire (vaccination proof) to get into places, and _everyone_ wears masks. Nice and sensible. And they have about 1/6 of the cases we have.
To enter the UK, you do a 30-odd quid lateral flow which of course can't be the government's own test. Instead, you use one of the government's 'recommended' suppliers who might or might not fulfil posting you a test before you go on holiday, which is identical to the government test. The only difference seems to be the colour of the packaging and a little PDF with the word negative on it. When I got to customs in Paris, I was asked for this. All I had to do was use my phone to zoom in on the word "negative". Ok, it also gets linked to the passenger locator form, but wtf can't this just be linked to a government LFT which is linked to the NHS database?!
Once in the UK, you're given two days to optionally roam around before doing a mandatory PCR test. For me this involved going to a pop-up clinic and having the privilege of someone else jabbing me in the face with a swab, rather than doing it myself. 60 quid for literally 2 minutes in and out.
The tests are such a scam. Covid restrictions here are so minimal now, hence the relatively high case numbers, yet the government happily mandates such a stringent, costly, stupid travel testing regime. I wonder how many of these pop-up companies have directors that are mates with Hancock and Javid.

A lot. I didn't realise that you couldn't use the free LFTs. That's just ridiculous.

Oh, and those LFTs will soon not be free. And then people won't bother at all. The tests aren't very good but do pick up some cases. Families just won't bother for school etc if they have to pay.

Yep. I also get PCR tests regularly through work, but of course I can't use those for 'official' testing purposes...

Also, what's always been crazy about the LFTs is that YOU enter the result ffs. Don't like the result, just pretend it was negative anyway.
