A guy I work with lost his sense of smell and, apparently, everything smelled like 'cat shit' for a week when it came back.
Also, we have all had this RSV going around and, honestly, I would rather have had a dose of covid.

I've avoided that but most people I know have been knocked sideways by it and said the same. I merely have a cold at the moment. Not ill enough to not work but grotty enough to not want to.

I think I made a mistake some weeks ago in this thread, stating that my first of two doses of COVID-19 was in its first December, being 2020. Mrs. M. informs me that it was actually December 2021, and then a second dose some time the following Spring. In any case, I lost my sense of taste with that first session, and it has still not returned fully. I'm the cook, and I know what my own food is supposed to taste like! The loss of taste is not as bad as it was at first, but I still reckon I'm only getting about 80% of most flavours, and some things still literally taste of nothing

After I had it the first time, I lost the ability to taste tuna. It was really weird. If I had a tuna sandwich, I could taste the bread but the tuna tasted of nothing.

I still can't taste anything - I've just had a can of Coke, and it may as well have been sparking water for all the flavour it possessed.
This fucking sucks.

My taste is fine post covid, but I seem to be able to tolerate heat a lot more. I have found myself adding a lot more hot sauce onto things.
Subtle flavours are still there, just heat seems to be reduced 30%

Finally tested negative yesterday morning, although my senses of taste and smell still aren't back 100%.

The wife's work has had COVID for the last couple of weeks.
She's got away with it this time around.
UNTIL THIS MORNING.
We took the little 'un to a moderately large dance competition yesterday, so she might have caught it there. Either way, she's +ive this morning.
Neither me nor the ten year old have tested +ive yet, but the ten year old feels a bit off (still gone to school for now), and I definitely have more of a prickly throat and annoying cough than I did a couple of days ago...

Yeah, the second time the Mrs. has had it. If the little 'un and I do get it, it will be our third

That seems like good innings to me. I've had it twice, but don't have any young ones to bring it home from school etc.
Hope you and family have a speedy recovery mate.

Many thanks. None of us have had serious symptoms ever, mostly just feeling like a miserable cold (and my, permanent, it seems, loss of taste). Hope all other FGers are now doing well!

Unlikely it was from yesterday, it's 5 days on average from contact till symptoms show, and anther day for LFTs to reliably detect. It's different for different people, but can be as fast as 2 days after exposure though that is rare, can also take up to 2 weeks but that is even rarer. Hope she's OK and you and the little one manage to avoid it.

All the best with this, EMarkM - hope your wife gets better soon, and you and the kiddo don't end up having it again.

It certainly makes more sense. Many thanks for the kind wishes.

I tested positive on Thursday, still positive today but feeling a lot better so working from home.
Having fun with my anti-vaxxer boss (who hasn't been vaccinated, obviously) who can't bring herself to even say the word COVID.
When I initially called in sick she said "that's fine, you've got a virus, just get some rest". Didn't tell any of my colleagues when I spoke to them I had COVID, just a virus. When I sent photos of my positive tests to our Health & Safety person they also said "why didn't she tell me you had COVID?".
Laughable really.

That's a bit.... mental isn't it?
So is she in deniable about Covid even being a thing then?

Bit of an issue if anyone is immunocompromised.

I believe she's one of those tedious people who probably believes it does exist but has been blown out of all proportion, no worse than a cold, doctors are just after yor money etc.
It's definitely bizarre how she avoids saying the word though.

That was my old man. His media outlets of choice told him to minimise covid even when he caught it and his torso turned purple after breaking ribs from coughing so much, the daft bastard.

I think a lot of antivax and COVID denial is fear. Minimising it and "it's just flu" and that sort of stuff is just coping.

I think, initially at least, it was driven by our masters trying to drive us back into work/the office and then just became a standard layer of right wing brain rot.

One of my co-workers was like that, and was massively keen to reintroduce face to face meetings. Selling the benefits of doing things in person et.
Talking to him about it one on one in private, it was apparent that lockdown was really difficult for him psychologically.

We have just caught it for apparently the first time 🙈
Anyone know how long it takes to test negative. Supposed to be going to Prague next weekend 🙈

It depends on a case by case basis. I tested positive for 11 days (or 10 but I think it was 11). Other people test positive for about 5.
I will go to Prague for you though because I'm a benevolent chap and want to help.

Just tested positive, almost exactly a year after my first bout. Obviously the week I booked leave too.
