The take up combined with how poor their vaccine is is a significant problem. Most of China isn’t in cities either, there’s a lot of rural areas where it’s hard to get the vaccine.

I have no real evidence to back it up (other than, you know, it being China), but I'm convinced that it is nothing to do with COVID. It is just an excuse to up the dial on the police state and normalise this way of life.
On the vaccines, I didn't see it myself, but heard about a Chinese official being interviewed the other day both simultaneously saying their vaccines weren't as effective and that they didn't need western vaccines because their vaccine was really good.
Their uptake figures definitely seem fine. It is something around 87% fully vaccinated, with about another 3% partially vaccinated (according to figures presumably from the Chinese, so probably take that with a pinch of salt).

The issue with Covid vaccination rates in China is that they prioritised the younger working population rather than the older age groups. There was some logic to this when the aim was zero covid. i.e. initally vaccinate the part of the population that would have the most daily social contact.
With a zero covid strategy no longer viable they're caught between a rock and a hard place between letting it rip and having a high death rate amongst the elderly or seeing an increasing amount of social unrest as a result of lock downs.

Yeah. Headline vaccination rates don't matter so much. As there is no lasting immunity, what matters is what groups have been vaccinated and how long ago that was.
I suspect what is really at play here is the complete inability by the CCP to admit they're wrong in pursuing zero covid. They've painted themselves in to a corner with no idea how to extract themselves from it without going "oh the last 3 years of lockdown? Never mind."

Old or infirm He didn't mention his firmness. No need to rub salt into the wound.

Got a sore throat which feels exactly the same as last time I got covid. I know I was contact with someone who had it last week. If it is that I get to choose to go to work and potentially infect hundreds of people in the run up to Christmas or get a written warning.

What sort of shit place do you work for? Surely they can't do that.

Not sure why they can’t give a warning for that, although written it a bit extreme. It’s stupid, counter productive and awful but I can’t think why they can’t do it. A lot of places are ignoring it now.

It's a large worldwide shipping company, I've been off twice in the last year due to work injuries and this would be the third inside a year. Part of my job involves going into nursing homes, retirement villages and doctors surgeries and generally being going to loads of people's houses that are quite old due to the area it's in.
Company policy ftw.

Had my Seasonal Booster ™️©️®️ this morning, and now have the beginnings of an achy arm!
Been suffering the mildest of cold symptoms over the last week or so, but is my throat prickling just a little more this afternoon..?

Welp, got it again. I think I've caught all the big strains now, just got to zone in on a few of the more outlier versions and I can complete this Panini sticker album.

Had a party on Saturday, yesterday had a sore throat. Today a mild sore throat, bit of a runny nose, had to pop to chemist to pick up my asthma medication so thought I may as well pick up some covid tests while there.
Bright red line appeared almost instantly so I guess I have finally got it after avoiding it so far. Luckily I am quadruple jabbed so at the moment just a mild cold. Hope it stays like this.

So those of you who have had it recently how long did it last?
Vert mild for me, a light cold really, but as I am not a cunt* I am isolating until negative. Really fucking me over as a result as cant do Christmas shopping and am worried** will still be positive for Christmas.
*well not that sort of cunt ** although solo Christmas on the sofa with die hard I would prefer to family gathering
Currently 4 days and line shows up instantly

Fiiiiinally caught it, whatever variant it is, last Sunday. Still feel crap a week later. Heavy head cold really and a constant headache, which I think is getting off lightly compared to some. I had a booster just a month ago, perhaps that’s taking the edge off.
