Interesting, I've been positive for over 7 days now and I've had symptoms for around 13 days. Last week was definitely the worst, I actually can't imagine what it would feel like without any vaccine.

Yar my parents just had it.
My old school friend in Netherlands just got a booster tho.... I'd pay for one. I paid for a flu jab, as fuck that shit. I always get bad colds in winter, don't want flu/covid as well.

Got mine done last week. Just common sense same as flu jab. I don't get people who don't get flu jabs etc. "Oh it doesn't kill so why bother?" Ignoring some people die of flu if a jab reduces chance of me feeling shit and coughing for a week I am all in. Preventing feeling shit is just as valid as preventing dying as a reason to take it.

The flu vaccines are also good at reducing transmission, which is why the kids all get them.
Covid jab is for the old and infirm. I had mine a few weeks ago.

My best mate has been absolutely floored with flu the past couple of weeks. Couldn't get out of bed for 5 days and was hallucinating and shit. Over the worst of it now but is still coughing up blood. I've had the flu jab the past few years, Seems stupid not to.

One of my friends thought she was having an asthma attack last night and ended up in hospital it was so bad. Turns out it was covid and she’s being kept in because she’s so sick.

Had the flu jab, but only because I was able to get one via work.
Before that was confirmed I had a look at local pharmacies and they had no available spaces until the new year.

I get it at the doctors cuz of my limp lungs. My F-I-L ended up in hospital with pneumonia a few years ago after a bout so I dont fuck around and always get it ASAP.
The other half pays, though and its been an absolute nightmare getting one. 4 appointments cancelled, little to no availability anywhere...

I was looking at booking a flu jab at Boots, couldn't get an appointment for over a month.
Then I went to my local pharmacy to ask if they did it and got it done 2 minutes later... It was even a special non egg one which is cool given my allergies and the standard one is cultivated in egg.
Where are people asking for non standard covid jabs?

My only slight worry is that it started there under some possibly sketchy circumstances and they're the only fuckers still trying to stop it spreading. Like maybe they know something everyone else doesn't.

Apparently their vaccine uptake is relatively low. Which is strange. You'd think given the way things are over there it would basically be compulsory.

They’re issuing their own vaccine which isn’t very good by all accounts

Their issue isn’t really the vaccine uptake though - they are just not letting people catch it and over time build up immunity. Particularly now that this is clearly a much weaker strain. Their zero covid policy has always meant all they are doing is delaying what is inevitable - ie that you have to let people mix and catch it then recover. I couldn’t understand it at all until Decks comment which has now made me worry and that angle, so that’s good.
Side note : I bet e*****e is frothing mad about how wrong he was all along.

The lack of vaccine uptake is why they can’t let people catch it though. Not only is their vaccine less effective at preventing serious illness but not enough older people are fully vaccinated and boosted so it still has the potential to overwhelm hospitals. I’m quite surprised that they haven’t just gone down the route of forced vaccination.

Apparently they are even censoring crowd shots in their World Cup coverage so people in China can’t see maskless crowds.

I don’t think Chinas take up is that low and certainly percentage wise many other counties are fully open now with similar take up statistics and are not being overhelmed now. What I don’t get is what is the strategy? Keep people locked down forever? What is actually their plan?
