Mrs Ecosse also has it, just that she has far less symptoms than me. Not for the first time, Spanish genes > Scottish genes.

Gargle dispersible Anadin for razor blade sore throats - works every time for me, and I get them a lot.

Fun fact: You can't buy any dispersible meds in Japan. They aren't allowed. No idea why.
You can get fucking foul dry powder stuff that you're somehow supposed to swallow though.

Bah, I've got it for the second time. So far not as bad as the dose of Delta I had last year, but it's still laid me out today.

Thank god my horrendous throat is easier today, needed paracetamol and ibuprofen together to make a dent on the pain. Hopefully I'll be fully over it in another few days.

Had my first rapid test today, after somehow managing to never need one for the past 2.5 years I now need one along with my jab certificate to visit Dad in the hospital tomorrow. Oddly enough they didn't ask me for one the previous times we went, only yesterday when he actually checked in... It was... Surprisingly effortless, really. I don't know if it was our local pharmacist being skilled, people overexaggerating how deep you have to swab or just my nose not giving a damn, but I was expecting at least discomfort and all I got was a tickle, a bit of reactionary snot after the fact and a negative result

No idea why.

The throat one was the worst for me, I'd gag before it's even gone in my mouth.
I'd be shit at giving blowies.

It's something about the thin probe scraping against the the tonsil that annoys me, a thick dildo lodged in my throat doesn't really bother me in the same way.
I mean, hypothetically.
Yes.

7 days after first symptoms, I'm still testing positive, most symptoms have gone except for some mucus in the chest. On Tuesday I have tickets for my last ever opportunity to see a favourite band live and would really love to go. Guidelines here are after 5 days, you're free but I'm wary of still being positive and don't want to be infecting people. Do I just not go? Go and FFP2 mask up everywhere?

It would be pretty hypocritical after how much you have taken about being angry at other people being risky when you know tge answer yourself.

All guidelines say to wait 5 or 7 days, I just read that in France, after 7 days you can travel freely as "Positive results more than eight days after infection will often be caused by PCR or antigen tests detecting dead virus cells which can no longer infect anyone else"

Yep, that's the general view. Can test positive for months after but are not contagious

At this stage I wouldn't be surprised to discover I've had it for over two years, am immune to symptoms and I don't show up on tests and have been inadvertently distributing it around the world and I am largely responsible for the downfall of society. Must be something about Northern boys. I can't seem to get it either. Not been on any holidays but work in health care. Of course, since I have my first festival in two years or whatever in two weeks I assume I will finally get it and be absolutely devastated by it. That'll learn my smart mouth.

If you go to the concert you waive your right to ever go on a whine about “let it rip” ever again.

“No longer infectious” isn’t an exact science, most studies suggest it’s anywhere between 5-10 days but may be up to 20 for more severe cases, and even then it’s not a perfect “day x you’re fine regardless of test results”

I think it would be pretty selfish and irresponsible personally, but that’s just me.

Weren’t you moaning about restrictions being eased too much despite The Science not long ago, funny how 5-7 days suddenly suits you when you’ve got plans

The very fact you are asking means you are unsure and personally I would err on the side of caution. I would give 10 days minimum but then I am not a let them rip person like you have suddenly become now you have a stake in the game.

I’m in the north and somehow I’ve not had it either. Since the pandemic I’ve still been to the supermarket at least once a day, been on holiday abroad each year, been to Scotland several times, the north east, London loads, Manchester loads, Wales quite a few times, York, Leeds a bunch too, Belfast once So I hope I’ve not had it without the symptoms as that would be bad

I’m not going down the “this link says this but this one says that” route with you. It should be clear as day to anyone with a hint of self awareness what the correct course of action should be.
