itll provide protection sure, for the recipient. Doesn’t seem to stop you spreading, hence the requirement to provide negative tests no matter what your vaccination status. So the same question remains, how does a booster requirement affect the current status. There’s a reason why it’s called a “booster” rather than “third dose” I presume they want policies in place that mean people know they have to stay up to date to travel so that when cuntyvariant xyzzy appears and boosters/next gen vaccinations do significantly reduce transmission then everyone knows what to do. I don't imagine we'll need a jab every 9 months for the rest of our lives but we might for the next few years, I personally don't give a shit. I already get a flu jab once a year, it takes 2 minutes. My booster took a few minutes as well.

Testing here before travel to France? Yes you still do
oh you’re quite right, you don’t from the 12th. We booked our tests last week, haha. What a waste

Seems ridiculous really, you can be coughing with a fever but they’ll let you through as long as you’re vaccinated

We'd also booked LFT tests but the company refunded them without even having to send them back which was handy.

The french government website still says you need a test, while the french embassy says you don’t. Classic France, presumably they can’t update things on the weekend

Or LFTs are a bit rubbish? It's only anecdotal, this, but they really are. I had negative LFT results all the way through my Covid bout in December. PCR told the truth. And, honestly, I'm good at taking tests like these - work-related from a previous career - so it's not the method, it's the apparatus. I'm going to watch our little girl's school play this afternoon (VIKINGS!!!!) and all audience members have been asked to LFT before we go. I have, and it's negative, but what does it prove? I suppose, as usual, it's a numbers game and, if it catches just one positive case, it's done its job.

Can you travel with lft in carry on? I assume you'd have to separate the vials and put them in one of the liquid bags. Know someone going to Spain and he wants to bring a few to check himself now and then and neither of us were sure if it was allowed.

LFTs have been pretty consistently accurate in my anecdotal experience, to the point where a negative test when feeling fine in the morning followed by a positive when suddenly feeling unwell later that day

Usually the inaccuracies come from the user taking the LFD or reading the result wrong. There are several ongoing surveys evaluating the accuracy of LFDs (people are randomly sent a PCR alongside).

Didn't get mine when I had a cough when a PCR did, but I didn't check when I felt proper rough. Caught the rest of them no worries though.

Numbers seem to be trending down quite sharply at the moment yeah? And we all seem bored of ripping each other apart on the numbers too. Good news all round I guess.

Nothing to really argue about on the numbers now is there? Seems pretty clear what's happening.

All restrictions being lifted here in N.Ireland from tomorrow. Still have to isolate if you test positive. Considering I have potentially vulnerable family members and the possibility of long covid, think I'll just keep wearing a mask and all. Sister still can't taste or smell some 3 weeks after testing positive so would rather not risk to see if I could be the same.

Forgot all restrictions are being removed here. I shall be keeping masked up since stepdad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreas and liver cancer last month. Sure it's not going to change the outcome but I'd rather not be the one to finish him off and definitely don't want to get mum ill while she's dealing with all this. Sisters due date is in a couple of weeks too. Really picked a great time didn't they 😒

It is definitely over, at least in people's minds. I was literally the only person in waitress wearing a mask today.

Novax in full damage control mode now. BBC interview he's saying he supports the jab but that it's his right to choose and he researches fully what he puts into his body.
Like, for example, the magic water?

So that's twice in the past few weeks I've been unwell without Covid. I hope this is just my immune system playing catch up after a few years of having fuck all to do.
Sunday nights fever was pretty special, can't really remember many fevers like that in the past and apparently from just a cold!

You’ve spent the last couple of years without any exposure to the normal amount of bugs you usually would, constant low level exposure is what normally keeps your immune system on top of things and up to date with viral firmware updates, everyone’s in the same boat

I'm wondering if I should get a PCR but the fever was in the past. Is the NHS like the Met, in that they don't check for past events? Sorry, I'll get my coat.
