It would be my luck to get it when I finally get a WFH job and actually have things to look forward to this week

So, I just spent the whole day in a small meeting room with 3 colleagues, our first face to face meeting since October. At the end of the day, one of them said he wasn't stopping for a drink when offered because his wife had tested positive for Covid yesterday.
Great. Thanks so much. Gah.

There’s no isolation requirements if he’s vaccinated and testing negative, good luck getting out of work in those circumstances

Probably.

The boy is now absolutely fine. A significant improvement on last time when he wasn't great for a good 4 or 5 days. Hopefully that's the same for most who catch this variant.

Possibly? I’m just saying there’s no legal requirement for him not to be there, it’s not my decision and Probably not his either

You'd think common sense would prevail here. "Sorry, my wife has tested positive so probably best if I dial into this one from my desk/home"

Might as well not bother if 3 colleagues are face to face in an all day meeting and you’re on a screen in the corner, good luck contributing anything. Just tell the boss you’re taking the next 5-10 days off because you might develop covid symptoms at some point. Don’t make this guy the baddie in the story

So much so that I was getting it on the ear for not retesting and jumping the gun. Tested again this morning and even more covid-y. Vindicated!

Added in politics thread - but shapps got an absolute roasting on radio 4 over the “birthday party” - they were really baiting him. Enjoyable stuff

I’m the only one phoning in as they wanted to save me the 5 hours of driving. Going to be a good waste of time.

And yet, despite having some symptoms, my PCR comes back negative. Seems to have been a passing cold.
I think I'm magic.

So I might have mentioned in this thread earlier that someone in the vast extended family who was so anti vax (and also had asthma lol) he didn't think covid was even real eventually caught it and was brought into hospital cause it hit him so hard he developed pneumonia. Well he was discharged yesterday after 3 weeks in ICU and told that he was the sickest person in the ward. The doctor had recommended he get the vaccine which led to him getting verbally abusive with the staff, saying hes not getting any fucking killer vaccine as he said. Part of me thinks he even discharged himself. Anyway, hope the doctors put a note next to his name that says 'DO NOT RESUSCITATE'

Even better, perhaps, a note that simply says "do not communicate"!

Kids still testing positive. I'm still testing negative, but my body has said it's broken anyway. I've just called in sick as I'm a liability. I'm off back to the freaky dreams I woke up from

I work in optics. Tomorrow is another 'Freedom' day where masks and distancing are thrown aside and my governing body have still not heard from Public Health England to see how NHS sites should act.
Looking forward to the 'I thought we don't have to wear masks mate' tomorrow. Already had that once this week with a withering 'From Thursday...its not Thursday' from me.
Be nice to see some guidance when the government line is fuck off your masks everywhere.

Ugh. First day back at work yesterday in two months. Had lunch with a friend. He's tested positive today. Worst day back ever. I even had a dweeb from IT come and sit next to me, and entirely unprompted, tell me about the "coup" on his office floor which meant he'd been ousted from his desk and had to sit on our floor. "Couldn't believe it", he said. "Going behind his back like that." Then he proceeded to eat his sandwiches really loudly next to me, mouth open, then crunch an apple even more loudly. And he had awful halitosis. And now roni. Great.

Mostly over covid now but still testing positive. I have completely fucked my sense of smell, I can still kind of smell stuff but I have a constant horrible smell in my nose. You know when you go into someone house and they smoke and it has that stale smoke smell, I can basically smell that at all points and it's fucking horrible.
Maybe it's time for a smelling orange.

I’ve had the constant smell of smoke for the last 2 weeks now, like walking into a heavy smokers house. Everything smells pretty normal, if anything my sense of smell seems stronger than ever, except when there’s a nothing there so it’s just intense cigarette smoke

I don’t smell anything that “isn’t there”, but my taste and smell are still not working properly.
The things I can taste, it’s probably about 75% the strength of what it should be. I still can’t really taste spicy stuff at all - the mega hot (seriously) chilli that I make might as well be bolognese, and the phaal from the rather excellent takeaway here literally tastes like water.

I think we've finally got it here. Missus was all but dead yesterday with a bad headache and really sore throat. This morning I've woken up with a stupidly sore throat, low fever and body aches. She's insisting it can't possibly be (despite spending hours amongst people with covid less than a week ago) because she's feeling a bit better today. Trying to source some RATs but they're bloody hard to find in Aus right now.

I'm still negative, but I'm off work as the "thing that I've got that has the exact symptoms my kids had when they tested positive" is making me dizzy as hell. Must be the vaccine fighting it off, but I'd have expected a positive test of that was the case. And if it's not COVID, then I don't know what it is, because I don't go anywhere aside from the supermarket once a week with a mask.

Yeah I have a nasty cough and I've tested negative for nearly 2 weeks of daily testing.
I don't know what the fuck it is but it's annoying and stopping me from sleeping properly.
