Who the fuck goes into the office straight after a flight back from India? That's absolutely mental.

The good news being if she caught Rona on the journey she won't actually be infectious for a couple of days.

True enough... Polar opposite of me! I always took TOIL on principal when travelling over the weekend for any work related reason.

So actually WFH isn't possible with who I work for. We don't have laptops and even if we could bring the tower PC's home we just can't, even though we work in the IT dept and could easily do the work from home. They say its to do with security but I think its also corporate culture. Even during the height of lockdown, before the vaccines we were in the office. Had to make enough noise just to get them to install barriers between desks etc.
As for her I think she's had to use up most of her holidays already at this point as she went to India before Christmas, so she prob has no choice but to come in today and make up the hours she missed this morning before the end of the week. My concern is just how infectious could she be.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say she's a high risk candidate. Ah well it's on her and the company if people get sick.

I’d have thought she’s low risk today but higher risk over the following few days. Can’t she sit on her own in the office or something? At least stick her near a window.

What fucking loser comes back from holiday straight into work?
People have learnt nothing during all this. You'll get those troopers that pat themselves on the back when they go into work sick again soon. Like nothing ever happened.

Legitimately telling the truth here, this isn't a wind up, but the room in our office has no windows. And she sits behind me. It's a fucking miracle I haven't ever gotten covid at this point. Believe she has to take a day 2 test and get results off that and her predeparture was negative so by the letter of law, she can come in. But I would have thought common sense would prevail and someone would say, 'Maybe come back tomorrow'

The sad thing is these days is that she and the bosses will view her liberties or capacity to be offended over the OP and colleagues' rights to come into work and not catch a dangerous infectious disease. I'd say the chances of her being asked are zero. Edit: typed this before the last reply. Seems there is a massive amount of the employers being thick or sociopathic involved here over the above. Yeah leave that place ASAP, I thought I'd seen it all.

Keep imagining a faint smoky smell the last couple of days, like when a gust of wind fluffs some smoke back down the chimney. It’s getting a bit annoying now

I work in a financial company and it was "we can never work from home" and when COVID hit everyone in the company had laptops and all working from home a week before the first lockdown. That's with all the strict security protocols we have. It can be done but a lot of companies just won't. Anyhow...Is it true that Plan B is going to get axed and all restrictions lifted in the UK shortly?

Because testing before you come into the office is far too sensible.

Unfortunately the virus is still lingering in the rest of the UK God bless Boris, he's done such a great job of defeating the virus, he deserves a quick drink now and again. He is working 24/7 to keep us safe.

Daughter rough overnight, snotty, headache, sore throat. Positive lateral flow and PCR first thing but yet to hear back. Smack in the middle of re-plumbing/wiring, on hold for a week while I potter about with a bit of filler and try to look useful I guess. Feel like I’m in that trash compactor and the walls are sliding shut, not a bit of pipe or Wookiee in sight either.

My partner just got a text stating she had been in contact with someone with the Omicron variant with a handy link to order a testing kit.
One quick URL check later showed the URL to be based in Singapore.

Got what feels like a stinking cold and I ache like fuck but have passed all my lateral flow tests. Can't get a PCR done as work will lose their shit if I take a day off when all my lateral flow tests are negative. Hopefully I will feel better in the morning or fail a test because work today was a total slog.

Frog - surely you're able to call in sick even if you don't have covid? If you not well then take a sick day.

I'm at the threshold for illnesses for ages. If I have one more I get a written warning as in the past 8 months I have had 2 workplace injuries and one day off as someone smashed my porch window and I needed to sort it. Need no more days off for the next 4 months or so and then 2 will disappear in a week.

Yeah of course, I do keep an eye out but unfortunately there arent many jobs doing what I am actually trained to do. That means I have a very limited scope when it comes to other jobs and as shit as this one is, it actually pays quite well.
