The girl has the Q30 and they are amazing for the money. Long battery life, line in for when they die, comfy... the ANC isnt the strongest but they do block the worst of it on a plane, so all good from me.

The acoustic profile definitely makes a difference. As you say, cracking bang for your buck. Been meaning to get some for ages. The Sonys will be for our and about and travelling to London etc but these are very good for home.

I have the q30`s for work & gym. Cracking sound and decent enough ANC for the cost. My lad tried to mooch them, but told him to get his own!
I also have the acoustic setting as the baseline with a few tweaks for personal preference.

Can anyone recommend whether the Sony CH720n are any good? Late to the party, but I thought they were pretty decent. The noise cancelling is good and they're pretty comfortable. I'd still be using them, but a month after I bought a pair my boss bought me the Beoplay Portals, so the Mrs has them.

Got a pair of Beats Solo3s. They're on Prime for $108 and Target currently has a $80 discount on Beats products, so combining those with price got got them down to ~$30 altogether.
Sound good. Certainly for this bargain.
I only knew to do the price match + sale thing because I saw a girl get two pairs when I walked past the electronics section.

So my XM3 have bit the dust after almost 5 years of service. Looking to buy another Sony and torn between XM4 and the 5. Which ones would you recommend, I've read the XM5 obviously doesn't flatten like the 3 and 4 and that the ear cups are more shallow. Any thoughts please?

My old Sennheisers have finally died, so I'm getting myself a pair of Sony WH-XB910N, as they are currently down to £134 on Amazon from £180.
I really want something that will combine decent bass with the ability to shield my ears from the conversations of the gorms on the bus going to and from work every day, and these seem like they'll do the job.

You could get some XM4's off Amazon Warehouse for £180 atm, back in the day I bought my XM3's off Warehouse and they'd not even been opened.

As above, the Anker Q range are excellent if you wanted to save a few quid.

Does anyone have/use B&O Portal headset as 'normal' headphones? They are down from a very optimistic £500 to £147 on amazon and do bluetooth, ANC and all standard stuff.
Looks like decent VFM but I would be mainly using them like actual headphones rather than a headset. My old BT ANC sennheiser finally died, so Im looking to replace them. I'm also looking at sennheiser accentum, the budget momentums. I dont use them loads so im not looking to go big, so 150 is about my limit.

The Q30s regularly go on sale for around £50. I got a pair last week and they're pretty good. Good equaliser options in the app, and simple to pair with two devices. amzn.eu/d/dswzTBO

I think they would definitely be worth pushing your budget by two quid

Thanks when I follow the link it says they're £89 which even with 15% off is £76 so a bit over budget. Also, ideally I want to buy form Amazon as I suspect my delightful son may miss-treat them or drop them or whatever so I can at least fall back on Amazon's customer service.

I find the connection to xbox to be a bit dodgy, and they don't do simultaneous bluetooth/xbox audio like the xbox wireless headset. As a pair of headphones though, they are pretty great, I find them comfortable enough for long sessions. They could maybe do with being a touch tighter as they do have habit of shifting slightly if you move your head too quickly.

Ah, cool. I’ve decided against them as they look a bit big on the head to be wandering about in. I’ve got a big swede anyway.

I got a pair of AirPods Max. For music they are average and don't tend to use them. Where I REALLY like them is for the spacial audio that comes from the Apple TV. The noise cancellation is incredible as well.

They should release a VHS player as well.

Do decent on ear wireless headphones exist these days? I am finding that it's my ears that are a bit big for the Anker over ears I have. Or over ears with bigger cups I guess. These are fine for a while but then start to annoy.

I think akg still do on ears. And I know they don’t have the best reputation but you can occasionally pick up Beats Solo 3 really cheaply and they are actually very good.

Yeah, I've got some wired AKGs that are still comfy as. Quick search threw up some JBL and Marshalls but not much else. I don't use them a huge amount don't want to spend masses. I'll probably prevaricate anyway, as is my wont.

Love my XM4s. Really comfy too.
But this forum does seem to be populated by people with giant heads so ymmv if you are of the balloon head persuasion.
