I bought the Sony WF-1000XM4's recently, upgrading from the XM3's that I'd had for 2-3 years. They're spot on, cant fault them really. They're a huge upgrade on the XM3's in terms of fit and form. Personally found the 4s a worse fit to the 3s. The extra weight makes them not sit as well for as long, and they’re also worryingly difficult to take out the case. Makes me nervous doing it when I’m on the train platform in case I fumble them onto the tracks. Not sure about ‘huge upgrade’ full stop to be honest. They are better for sure but it’s pretty incremental. If you don’t have 3s then the 4s are the ones to go for but I kind of regret upgrading. For me it was the size of the carrying case on the 3s. I really appreciated the smaller form factor of the XM4 case - especially when putting them in jean pockets. I've never had an issue pulling the 4s out the case, but I know what you mean. In terms of fit in ear, they feel much better for me than the 3s, but this will be personal. I also like the look of them much more; the 3s were like fat elipses and a bit close to the "bluetooth headset" look of some of the earlier wireless earbuds. In terms of audio quality, I dont notice any difference but was never able to do a side by side comparison. Was always happy with the 3s in that regard. I dont think they're worth the incremental upgrade, its just I lost my XM3 case and they became useless overnight.

Do you see a difference on charging the case? Mentioned it easier in the thread, but I find myself charging the 4s more often. But that might be because it's a smaller capacity but also more accurate. Overall I agree though. I basically replaced them for free after my 3s stopped charging properly and Amazon refunded.

Speaking of headphones I just upgraded my old Arctic Pro Wireless to the newer Nova Pro Wireless and oh me oh my are they fantastic for games. The first time headphone surround has actually worked well for me and not felt like a vague approximation with quality loss.

Galaxy Brain Moment: I’ll get some cheaper earbuds that can live in my pocket 24/7 and not worry about getting damaged by all the butch things in my pocket.
They just took two consecutive trips through the washer. Once last night in my trousers where they fell out of the pocket and then again this morning with some bedding to fully make sure they were dead.
At least they smell nice.

On the topic of those sonicfoam things. I sent a photo/review to their support as they said they would send a free set to anyone who does so. I was expecting a single pair, but no, I received a complete pack of 12 pairs the same as what I had purchased. They even arrived the day after the email - very impressed.
They really do make a big difference too. My only issue is that the right ear in particular is a very tight fit so the foam comes away quickly. That is the smallest size too - I think my ear canal is unusally small and the right one a bit damaged from an infection years ago, which doesn't help.

Similar experience here too. Got a set of the medium ones for some Taotronics Sound Liberty 79 earbuds.
They do a nice job of isolating outside noise compared to the silicone domes that came with them. Likewise I found them a little too big - they didn't feel like they fit in my ears snuggly enough. I emailed them too and they were happy to send out another full set in a smaller size. Really happy with their customer service, can't fault it at all.
I'm in a similar position where right ear piece has broken a bit and I still feel they're a little too big for me. I put it down to either the bud design and/or maybe my ear canals being narrower than the norm. They also get a bit squished up when pushing the buds into the charge case as they don't fit so well with the sonicfoams.

Got some AirPod pro’s today, they’re a bit spesh. Fit beautifully out of the box and the sound quality is, to my ear, a big step up from the standard AirPods. The spatial audio setup thing, where you use a camera to map your ear - my phone’s camera isn’t up to it, anyone know if there’s a work around so I could use my wife’s phone?

I've given up on the Sony shells. Even with the foam buds on, they just won't stay in my ears for long enough. Fine if I'm still - audible in bed at night - no use on the move, which is where I use them most.
So instead of buying another cheap pair, I've got myself a set of Earfun (lol) Air Pro 3 buds and holy shit, they're good. I always thought the 20 quid ones were sufficient.
I was not correct. 😁

I use earbuds for indoor cycling, but that's it now. The sound never seems that great. I am noise-cancelling over the ear headphones all the time for 'proper' use now i think.
Got a pair of anker q30's for work/gym etc a good while ago, then more recently ponied up for some B&W Px7 S2's for home listening, since I have no stereo anymore and my missus grumps about my music if played over the sonos when she's in.
I thought the q30`s had decent sound, but the b&w are much rounder/better sounding. I'm sure there are even better sounding headphones out there, but these will certainly do me fine for now.

The girl has a pair of Q30s. Same as the P3 buds I have, I dont think you can do better for the price but you can, obviously, do better.

The Q30's took a bit of messing about with the equaliser to get it sounding a bit better, but bang for buck-wise for a set to not worry too much about, they're absolutely magic.
Listening to them now while out for a walk at lunch. Nice to stand in the sun & watch the world go by. 😀

Yeah, same with the P3. I ended up settling on 'acoustic' in the app for both because the 'signature' soundcore profile has absolutely no mids.

Haha, yes, tweaks to the acoustic profile for me too. At least I can't be as cloth-eared as I sometimes wonder, if i can agree on something with one of the audiophile thread people!

I can't speak for them but if my XM3's packed up tomorrow I'd go straight out and buy a set of XM4's. You could get a set off Amazon Warehouse for about £180.

Yeah, I've already convinced my wife it's time to upgrade the TV and Soundbar. Not much price difference at all in my eyes but I'm not pushing my luck.

I finally bought some Anker ANCs in the Prime Day sale. For £50, they ain't half bad. A bit bassy but perfect for what I wanted them for, which is basically to sling on whilst gardening etc. My XM4 earbuds are miles ahead but can also be a pain to wear for a long period of time.

The Q30? As above, try the acoustic preset. It levels them out a bit. Boosts the mids so they dont get quite as lost.
EDIT: Same for the earbuds if you got those. I have the P3 rattling around in my pocket at all times

Currently using Sennheiser Momentum wireless and I have to concede I was wrong about bluetooth. I listen to music a lot to the point where it was dictating my phone along with god knows how many different dacs and headphones. The momentums might not sound quite as good as a top quality setup but they sound close enough so as to make the convenience they offer a deal winner. Also I think wireless is at the start of an evolution in quality as the hifi industry develops technology. I read something about wifi headphones that transmit data uncompressed which sounds exciting.

I have the P3 rattling around in my pocket at all times Ah yes, missed that above, tis the Q30s. Didn't think it was worth going for the newer ones. Nearly got the Q20s for £20 cheaper, but USB C pushed me towards these! Will give that a go, cheers. Got the boy a pair of earbuds for when he went away, dirt cheap ones, £19 I think. He only loses them.
