Any recommendations for some cheapish over ear headphones for my little boy to take on holiday £40-£50ish. Don't really need to be wireless but if they are they'll need a 3.5mm jack.

If the device switching is important get the Beats Fit Pro. They’re the best in ears I’ve ever used. I only use my xm3 over ears now if I need aptx for some reason. I ended up with the in ear XM4’s, the switching between devices has been okay. Sound and anc are better than the airpods pro, but I’m not liking the memory foam ear tips. The small ones don’t block my ear canal completely, and the medium ones start hurting after a while. I’ve seen there’s a bunch of chinese silicone tips on amazon but not sure which ones to get.

Have a look at the Comply tips. That's what I went with for my xm3s

Same here. They are great headphones aside from the crucial aspect of comfort... I need to try out some other tips.

Yeah, I find them really comfortable. Bit of minefield though innit.

What bugs me is that on amazon they make you select a size, I’d rather have a set of S/M/L to find the best fit. Probably just going to go with mediums then.

My in ear xm3s gave me pressure headaches after a few minutes of use, no matter what tips I used. A shame as they were great aside from that.

www.aliexpress.com/item/33002317648.htmlI've bought these before, I have the small and large sizes in blue spare if oneone needs them, but for the costs of postage it would be cheapter to order them yourself.

The battery in my (just) two year old pair of XM3 seems to have shat itself recently. Went from a solid 30 hours per charge which it's maintained for ages down to to 4-5 hours pretty rapidly over the past few months. Absolutely love them, but don't really want to shell out for the XM5 if they'll only last a couple of years too. 10% low battery warning now means "you've got 15 minutes, mate" instead of "no worries, you've got literally hours!"
Now I'm wondering if I should go into Karen mode with Argos. I know my rites!!! Sails of good acts!!!

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to replace my Power Beats 3 with? They're used primarily for me to listen to videos etc at night while I (try) to sleep so battery life of at least 12 hours is a must. I'm lazy and wouldn't replace them at all if they weren't literally falling to bits.

Although I thought the battery life was only ever about 6 hours of constant use? Or do you mean before the case needs charging? Mine shit the bed sometimes, refusing to charge, so the contacts need cleaning etc. Got some of the tips above coming today too.

Sorry, I mean the WH-1000XM3 over ear ones, not the WF earbuds. Sony have a terrible naming scheme! Going to try a factory reset and using a different charger to see if that helps, as I might've inadvertently changed a few settings and was getting the decent battery life on pretty much default settings.
In fairness when I got them my priority was noise cancelling but that's not really needed after we moved, so I might shop around for something that pairs with multiple devices without being a massive pain in the arse.

So this morning I’m walking to work with my buds in and suddenly the sound goes really quiet and as I’m on the high street I mostly hear the traffic.
I think no worries I’ll whack the volume up and sort it when I turn into a side street park in a few minutes. Whacking the volume up works a bit but still sounds shit.
Turns out the Bluetooth connection had dropped so for five minutes I’m blasting my shite out of the speaker like a teenager. No wonder I was getting funny looks- for once my paranoia was justified.

You rebel.
I always worry something like that'll happen to me, probably when I'm listening to some particularly embarrassing music.

I did a similar thing in a petrol station a couple of months ago. I'd had my phone linked up to my car stereo but took it with me when I went to pay. Then as I was walking up to the till I noticed they were playing what sounded like Slayer on the store radio. When I commented to the shop worker that it was an unusual choice I got confused looks. It was only when I walked back to my car I realised it was my phone in my pocket on shuffle 😬

I did exactly the same thing. I was sat in the opticians and thought 'wow, specsavers have upped their muzak game' then realised the last two or three songs had come out of my pocket.

Yep, forever turning music or podcasts on in my pocket. And also calling my wife, and I'm not sure how. Think it's because her number is in my emergency info.

One of my friends is named an alliterative A[xxxx] A[xxxxxxx] so is the first name in pretty much any phonebook and the recipient of many, many bum/boob/pocket dials.

I'd go all Karen, mine are about the same age (March 2020) and they still seem to last as long as they ever did. That said if/when they do die I'd replace them tomorrow, love 'em.

Thankfully seems a bit better after a factory reset (and different charger for good measure) Watched a couple of full episodes of something last night and still allegedly at full battery now.

Fucking awesome love self cringe shit like that. About 6 years ago I was at a house viewing with my wife. We park outside, say hi to the estate agent who introduces us to the owners and the resultant small talk. Similar to us they were mid 30s suburban liberal elite types. The house was all done out for a viewing so everything was immaculate - strategically placed lamps, scented candles, background music on etc Whilst asking 'what's the parking like mate?" I noticed the music in the front room was actually Slayer, thought it was a bit weird/brave but pretty cool. Just as we were going up the stairs after at least 5 minutes being shown around downstairs I clocked it was my fucking phone and couldn't turn it off fast enough. Nobody said anything that whole initial time, including my wife. I must have looked like such a massive twat. It's like it never happened, but I know it did. It was just that weird thing where as soon as my brain went "oh cool that guy's got Slayer on " it was inconceivable it could actually be me. Literally poking around a stranger's kitchen chatting to an estate agent with Reign in Blood playing out my pocket full volume the whole time with a totally straight face. Absolute madness. Edit - heh, just saw the Lukus post above. Hilarious that we both had idiots made out of us by Slayer.

I had an incident many years back when I was watching Curb Your Enthusiam on my Archos (remember those?) on a train journey, and somehow I’d got the sound coming out headphones and speakers at the same time. A lady had to tap me on the shoulder and tell me. It was an episode that made particularly liberal use of the c word.
