Yeah not really sure how anyone can think not having a wire connecting your ears to something in your pocket is a pretty massive advantage when doing sports/exercise. It's not even debatable.

I dunno. I have some wired IEMs that sound a bit better than the Sony's and were less than half the RRP so some people would put up with a bit of cable rumble for better sound if youre in for that price bracket.
I think I would use them over some cheap wireless ones.

Yeah there's obviously situations where wired are better particularly taking budget into account, but he's saying he literally can't see any advantage to having wireless earbuds.

Even with budget in mind I got a pair of these a little while ago for cycling/gym and they honestly sound as good as anything I've tried. And they were like £40. And the advantages of not having a wire to worry about is absolutely huge. www.whathifi.com/reviews/earfun-air

If I was in for 40-50 quid, I would get some wired IEMs over those but then the exercise I do is, basically, treadmill in front of the HiFi so I dont actually need any for that.
Like I say, if im just popping to the shops, the Sony are the first and only thing I grab and if they died I would either get the XM4 or Airpod Pro to replace them but at the tiers below that, I think I would go wired.

The cable goes on the inside of the shirt and is clipped to the hem at the neck. No cable rumble.

Does anyone have more "premium" wireless ear buds? I'm looking at the Sony whatever4 ear buds but I cannot bring myself to believe they'll last. I've got the same pair of Beyerdynamics for 15 years and whenever a part breaks or wears out I just replace that part. But that's obviously not going to happen with these miniature wireless. What about battery life? Are they just gonna be rubbish in 2 years?

I've had the XM3s for a year or so, and I think they're excellent. Good ANC, balanced sound. Call quality good too. I probably only use them for a max of an hour or so at a time so battery life isn't huge issue. Haven't really tested to see if there's been a decrease in battery life etc though. They probably will give less over time, that's inevitable I suppose. Only thing I did was but some Comply memory foam tips as I didn't get on with either type supplied. No problems since.

Only got one pair of B&Os: the 2nd Gen H6s. They're not wireless, so can't vouch for the performance in that respect, but the quality of the sound is great; really full middle (not *quite* as bass-y as some, but then I'm not particularly fond of bass heavy phones as it limits their versatility with out EQ fuckery).
Check user reviews for the Portals, but I'm betting if they're anything like the old H6s (and honestly, I have every reason to believe they're probably better) they're going to be good all-rounders.

The Sennheiser MX-581s were the best headphones I have ever owned, and I would trade all the Beats, Sony, Creative, House Of Marley and JBL ones I've ever had for another pair of them.

WRT something I said in the home cinema about mistakenly chasing a flat, neutral 'reference' sound, I was looking to pick up some new headphones in black friday (specifically HD600 or some Hifiman) but realised that most of my headphones were 'critical listening' (DT770, MX50, those sonys and so on) and I dont actually do much, if any, of that so I grabbed a pair of Fidelio X2HR for like 93 quid from amazon.
A lot of headphone reviewers shun them because they are 'fun' and 'warm' which, to me, actually sounded perfect and, yeah, they are. I absolutely love them. Would totally recommend them and at sub-100, they are an absolute steal.

I'm looking to get some earphones for my partner to use in the gym and walks in the forest, for music and podcasts, she has wee ears so they need to have the clips or round the neck thing to keep them in place. Will be used wirelessly with an iPhone 13 Pro.
I looked at the Beats Powerbeats Pro, seem ok apart from no carrying such or portable case and possibly overly bassy. Any other tips?

Beats Fit Pro beat Powerbeats Pro hands down. Cheers, they don't have the clip to keep them in your ears though They're also not yet available outside the US...

The wing makes them way more secure than traditional in ear buds, so it should be fine, but understandable concern. A shame they’re not available though, they’ve been out a while here so weird they’re not out worldwide. They’re fantastic, regardless.

Beats Fit Pro beat Powerbeats Pro hands down. You can get these in the UK now
Are they a good shout for general out and abouting?
I'm using Galaxy Buds+ at the moment. They're not that old but I find them uncomfortable and they're pretty bulky and ugly. I'm using switching to Tidal as an excuse to buy something else
Mostly listening to hip hop, so given the branding I would assume they're well tuned for that
I don't think I can do full headphones for outside so just looking at buds

Are the Apple earbuds any good? Worth £109?
I’ve got some Sony wireless (WF-XB700) which I got for cheap but not sure if the Apple ones would be much of an upgrade

😎? @anyone? hello If you have an Apple device (especially multiple), they’re probably the best in ear buds out there. If you don’t, they’re probably not.

So having done some big boy research and looking on the previous page, I'm going with the Sony WF-1000XM4s
Now the excruciating choice over black or white

Got the Mrs a set of Bose noise cancelling earbuds for Christmas and they are Fantastic. On the upper end price wise but well worth it.

Can you run the fiio completely wireless if you wanted? As in Bluetooth to phone and Bluetooth to headphones?

You mean like connect airpods to the fiio and the fiio to a phone? I don't think so, it's just a Bluetooth headphone amp dac, so it's USP is to make wired headphones wireless.

Yeah, that basically. Was trying to work out whether there would be any benefit in that scenario, but I'm guessing you'd just introduce more lag anyway.
