Yeah, they are cool. Basically the same thing as the fiio but everything is a bit beefier and it supports more codecs. It looks really nice, too.

The ones from the previous page. The mic is decent. They also do even cheaper versions and I think the mic is the same.

Ah yes, soz. In my head I'd already lumped on the cost of the DAC so didn't think they were in budget.

One caveat is they aren’t earbuds, they are IEMs and some people do find them uncomfortable after a while.

Worth a pop at that price though.

Your company doesn’t pay and is as tight with money as mine?
We have different parts of the business where we can’t get a £10 pair of earphones and the other parts are allowed to get £300 noise cancelling headphones.

Public sector mate, no chance! They were dishing out some headphones at the start when people were going back in but not now. They would be shit anyway

I got some wired apple headphones for back to back meetings that became the norm when WFH kicked in. I just expensed it without even asking my boss. Not exactly breaking the bank, and I'd already completely fucked the batteries of my airpods at that stage and had to send them off for repair.
I know they're not exactly the audiophile's favourite, but I love the comfort compared to jamming silicon earbuds in my ear canal.
My company dished out a care pack that included a set of headphones. Tried them for 10 seconds and they went straight on the WEEE pile. Utterly horrible tinny things that you'd feel ripped off if you'd bought from a pound shop.

Just recently got a pair of Grado SR125x headphones. Immediately replaced the pads. Got them as a replacement for my SR80is which got accidentally crushed. There’s more padding on the headbands, the cables have gone from rubber to a very thick braided sheathing and they have brand new drivers. I initially hated the sound. Hated! I kept going back to my DT-770 Pros. I've got used to them now and I have them on more than the 770s.
Like the look of the HD ZEUS headphones. Maybe get them next at some point.

Yeah, I replaced the pads on my sr80e's with some 3rd party GS1000e pad clones and they make a massive difference. I couldnt wear them for long with glasses and had to EQ 2K down to make them sound less harsh but the new pads really round the sound out and makes them much more comfy.
Top tip if you run into cheaper, older grados on ebay or whatever.

Just got the X4s in. Haven't had time to play around with them yet but I like the feel of them - they've got a nice soft finish. They want photos of my ears to set up the 3d audio (supported by Tidal) which is interesting

Thinking of buying a pair of Grado SR80x as a casual walking around set of headphones. I've come to the conclusion that in ear buds just irritate my ears too much (as in I start swelling up and shedding skin). Anyone want to recommend against them for reasons before I hit the order button? www.richersounds.com/catalog/product/view/id/112158/s/grado-sr80x-black/

The obvious con is that they leak quite a bit of sound, but that's about it. I feel like if you're going to wear headphones around, open back is the way if you're fine with everyone else listening in. I really liked the GR3000e, but having "STATEMENT SERIES" on the wood seemed a bit wanky.

Grado's don't so much leak sound as play what you're listening so everybody else to join in with as well. People across the street will be able to know which verse of which song you're listening to. From other people's point of view they're on a par with playing music on your phone's speaker.

As above, I don’t think they aren’t very comfortable for long periods without modification and, yes, letting sound out is a problem but I think them letting sound in would be a bigger one. I reckon you’d have to jack the volume up to the point their inherent shrillness would be unbearable.
For sitting at home on the iPad or whatever, though, they are great.

Also maybe have a look at some Sony MDR7506. Great headphones, closed back, over ear, have a similar retro kind of look and are really light and fold up pretty small.

It's the letting in sound part that I like about outdoor openback headphones. I like to be at least a little aware of my surroundings if I'm going for a jog or something.

Yeah, they are fairly neutral. Bass is decent, though. Tbh, I forgot about the better bet which would be the AKG k361. I bought some open box K371 from Amazon as out and about closed backs but never use them, really. The K361 are meant to be more or less as good but for a lot cheaper. I think they would do you proud.

I'd up the budget and get some Sony WH-1000XM3's off Amazon Warehouse when they crop up. Some on there for £173 atm. Or they seem to be available from others not on Amazon for £159 atm.

Airpods pro are on the fritz again, already had them repaired twice but I’m done with them. Already half decided to get some XM4’s before I read this thread, but just checking to see if these are still the ones to get right now. Heavier than the airpods, but better ANC and sound quality, is that the gist of it? I suppose they won’t be switching between devices automatically like the airpods do?

If the device switching is important get the Beats Fit Pro. They’re the best in ears I’ve ever used. I only use my xm3 over ears now if I need aptx for some reason.
