Back on some Square mile beans after a few packs of different companies beans for the last while. It's nice to be back. The previous pack (from Piece in Glasgow) were nice and much better than the ones before, but the square mile ones are just a cut above that too, or maybe even more to my taste. Off to London during xmas, so will hopefully be able to make a pilgrimage to Monmouth coffee to pick up some more of their stuff at some point. May try and drag everyone to Prufrock too as we're staying not too far away from there. It's a wee bit of a detour, but I'm sure we could pop in by on the way to somewhere else, right? Its great for lunch down there, lots of street food places might help entice folks

Anyone "make" their own water? Have people here fallen down that rabbit hole yet? Wanted to exchange notes
Currently using a Zero water filter + third wave sachets. Need to get round to making my own recipe really, will be much cheaper.
I didn't realise how big a difference water made until I tried some bottled Ashbeck from Tesco. One of the highest impact changes I've made

I just use the filtered water in our quooker tap but will try the tesco stuff see if I can see the difference, its not something i've really considered before. I'm ready to enter the next level of middle age coffee wankery and was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding my next purchase. Had a Sage barista pro for 7 years and it's been great but now looking for a separate grinder setup. We have mostly 2 double espressos every morning for me and the wife but have the odd milk drink of a weekend, been tempted by the rancilio silva pro x, dual boiler is overkill but it has the pid built in the single boiler version lacks. Looking at it here with the eureka specialita grinder - clumsygoat.co.uk/products/rancilio-silvia-pro-x-espresso-machine-eureka-specialita-grinder-package?variant=43971987013850Anyone think of any alternatives I should be looking at

Just finishing the Homer Simpsons Tins from Rise and Grind. One was the Ethiopian as up thread which was ok, although i couldnt really hit the tasting notes. The other the Kenyan AA Kariru which was too dark for me and made a cup best with milk. I'd be happy with coffee like this if out and about but not what i really want at home.
Opened my Rosslyn X Dak, a Guji Ethiopian thats super light and fruity. Was roasted in early Oct so had a while but was surprised how light it was compared to previous boxes, i had 2 previous batches in the summer. Had to change my ratios and brew time to get it how i like it.
Have a box of Dak Milky Cake next. Not sure there's anything better tbh, i wonder why i sample so many different ones. I should just buy it by the kilo.

Wrong thread I know but I suspect a large Venn overlap.:
Want to buy a decent juicer to keep my wife in tip-top health. Any recommendations for good ones? In terms of both good, non-frothy juice extraction and ease of cleaning.
Ta all.

I was looking at getting a Lelit Mara X second hand recently and came extremely close, but then realised it wouldn't fit on my kitchen counter! Shame. But that might be similar ballpark? You're getting a bit beyond my knowledge. Oh just noticed your link comes with grinder too. I have a Niche Zero which has just been awesome, although admittedly I've only had the grinder on a Sage Barista Express for comparison. It's noticeably better than that and handles espresso and filter grind sizes easily. I really love how 'basic' it is for want of a better word. Numbers on a rotatable dial. Simple hopper. Metal switch to flick. It's elegant simplicity.

Oh and agree about water. I get the 5L bottles from the supermarket. Hate myself a little for it, but the improvement is very noticeable.
I very briefly flirted with the idea of getting a reverse osmosis (!) system plumbed in under my sink when we were getting out kitchen sorted last year. Butttt... Ultimately decided it was too much of a rabbithole and I could buy 5L bottles for the next 20 years for the same amount. My partner uses 5L bottles chopped in half to protect her veg patch, so I tell myself I'm not a plastic waste fiend.
