James Hoffman did a video on that. There is a roastery in Ipswich (I think) that you could walk into with some space marine branding on Monday and have a line of ‘POUR THE EMPEROR!’ beans on the shelf by the end of the week.

Finally, the Font Geek branded beans we've been waiting for?

Ta-dah! I've tried left and right so far. Very nice. The Ethiopian on right is particularly up my street. Not just pretty branding!

Nice tins, and local too.... I should really make an effort and get better beans. I've been going for cheap/bulk, as the kids were just going through it like water, but the 2 eldest have left now, so consumption is down, and I can afford decent stuff again!

Us vs Them had some really nice beans last time I was in there.
On topic: I picked up some beans from a cafe called Piece on Argyle street as the coffee in there was really nice when down this weekend. I am hoping they are as good as the ones we got served there.

Got a ton of leave stacked up so I have the week off with nothing to do in particular so I actually have time to make a v60 instead of grabbing a coffee from the bean to cup machine.
It’s nice to know I’ve still got it and, fuck me, I forgot how nice it is.

I'm instant coffee in the morning through the week for speed, unless on holiday.
The good stuff is for the evening/weekends/holidays.

I like the process. Weigh, grind, pour. Something about it helps my brain engage for the day. Mental yoga. Ha.

I feel the same when I load a tassimo pod into the machine.

Christ, I don't want to be you nick if you don't have 5 mins to make a V60 in the morning It's like a ritual in our house. It was getting out of the habit as much as anything else. I’m rushing about in the morning and eventually stopped making them on the weekend when I actually do have time. It’s weird having literally nothing to do so made some brownies to go with my coffee Check the flatness:

I only had sponge tins and liners, so it’s getting sliced like a pizza

The packaging's nowhere near as cool as some of the gems you guys have picked up lately, but this is my latest acquisition:

The Ride & Grind beans have been really nice btw. Roaster is legit and not just fancy packaging. The Ethiopian one with the branch on the artwork (Korate) is particularly lovely - fruity and floral, my fave.

Origin Coffee just won an award for best specialty coffee roaster in Europe at the European coffee awards. I’ve been using them recently and they do have a greater (good) variation in the flavours of their subscriptions than some others.

I’m struggling with an Ethiopian. Finally purchased some new Hario filters and they are so much thinner than the last batch: water almost streams through. I’ve made my grind finer, but still struggling to get the flavour I was expecting. Any favourite V60 ‘recipes’?
