Although I think we are kind of organised for a Dishoom breakfast one day, so maybe another large breakfast would be a bit much for the arteries.

It’s a very good sandwich, highly recommended. I’ve been up since 5 and it’s kept me going after a long trip south. It doesn’t appear hugely massive in terms of size but it’s very dense, you won’t need anything else.
Their “standard” espresso is Red Brick but they always have a couple of guests on for an extra bit of cash. Takeaway looked busy but at around 10 on a Tuesday at least if you wanted a table then it’s doable as people cycle out fairly regularly.

I did, and another for a friend. They said they were already starting to run a bit low.

Yep, all seems pristine. Going to fill her up after dinner.
Did you get around to filling her up?
Also, how are you getting on with the cold brewer?

Personally, I'm a big fan of the AeroPress - it takes up next to no space, it's relatively inexpensive, and it's basically idiot-proof. Idiot-proof? Time to find out...

Oh, yeah, I took some into work last week. Its an aquired taste, for sure. My wife hates it but Im going to persist, I think. At least until I work out the best grind size.

alcachofaNice setup you've got there! Let us know how you get on with the AeroPress. Bongo HeraclesI can certainly see how cold brew would be an acquired taste, although my own approach was typically ass-backwards - I got into cold brew quite early in my coffee wanker journey, *then* discovered iced Americanos and iced filter coffee. After that, I never looked back.

Wake up, babe, new v60 method just dropped
Just made a cup and, yeah, its makes a good brew. Its basically doing the bloom five times which is good if you struggle to control the bed and your filter ends up looking like the sarlacc pitt monster. Theres no stirring, swirling or any other mental bandwidth and it tastes really good but, as opposed to just dumping all the water in, it is a time sink. I think I will stick with it going forward, though.

Is it similar to the Coffee With April one I posted a while back?
Pour 50 g of water, wait 30 seconds, 50 g more water, wait 30 seconds...
I'm still using that, rather than my original "Stolen From Hoffman" one, and it's honestly the best, smoothest, most fragrant coffee I have ever had.

Sounds like it, just 20g=300ml so 60/60/60/60/60.

It's probably been covered once or twice already, but are there any good decaf or low caf coffees anyone can recommend?

Rich, Yes, there definitely are. But i generally get those from the nice long term family business roastery in the city rather than in packs i could recommend.
I think they make their own blends.

I like the Illy blend decaf. It comes in a tin which you can reuse, if you dont like it.

I’ve got that one and it is as good as any non decaf. Look for ones that have the Swiss water decaf process, that’s an easy/quick way to find something good.

Yeah, it certainly isn't cheap.
I was able to pick up a bag in person, thereby avoiding postage costs; they were also running some kind of promotional discount at the time, so it cost me just over £8.00.
It was good, but was it full-price-plus-shipping good? I'm not sure.

I bought a cappuccino at Monmouth coffee shop in London this week, my usual coffee shop. But it’s now gone up too … £3.80! THREE POUNDS EIGHTY. This was £2.90 per-pandemic.
Sad, as it’s the best coffee on my commute in but I won’t be paying that.

johnnoThat does sound a bit steep, even by London standards! Prufrock only charges £3.20 for a cappuccino, which is on par with what we regional peasants pay locally.

Whatever happened to "frothy coffee"? Not a cappuccino, but more of an Italian+greasy spoon number that just sort of vanished around the early 2000s. I have no idea what it was, but it was always a combination of satisfying and comforting.
Vanished. I blame Costa.

Today's offering from my local specialty place:
Pretty good. By no means the best I've had from there, but it combined a classic chocolate/nuts profile with a hint of fruity acidity, so it made for a nice middle-of-the-road experience. The kind of thing you could serve a non-specialty drinker and have them enjoy it.

I got a bargain today. Went into a local coffee shop for a takeaway flat white & decided to get some beans. Got a kilo of beans and the coffee for about £17.
Someone done fucked up. They even checked the price of the beans. Pretty sure they weren't supposed to be 14quid odd.
Roasted a week ago, so not even close to being clearance prices.
