Yeah, the Walliams books are garbage. My son is 11 and too old for them but gravitates to them because they are easy to read and he's lazy. Finding good series of books for him is hard. He loved the first Maze Runner but then got weirded out by something in the 2nd and hasn't picked it up since.

That said, I tried our daughter on them when she was 9 and they were too much then, some archaic words and things. They aren't literary masterpieces or anything but maybe have a look at Goosebumps or something. They are safe as milk despite the horror theme but kids like the thrill of thinking something might be a bit taboo. Off topic here!

An ex colleague of mine sat next to Freeman on a flight once and confirmed he was a bit of a wanker

Michael Crawford. In a Celebrity Cunts article about 20 years (I forget the publication, probably Womans Own), Michael Crawford came a creditable second, with at least one letter. The letter said it was from a stage hand, who was sacked one night after hours of stage prep, as he was sat down when Crawford walked past, and was told 'Michael doesn't like people sitting when he is working'. Granted it's a single anecdote 2 decades ago from a mag that may well have made it up, but still, cunt.

My nephew really liked all the Alex Ryder books, think there's quite a few and he read them around my sons age (11). Can't vouch for them personally as mine hasn't bothered reading them and instead listens to audio books of Harry Potter all day, but those ones may be worth checking out.

Bob Geldof is going to be high up there. He was at a family party years ago and my old uncle Bobby found himself next to him, made a bit of small talk about both being Bobs and geldof just spat out “if I’ve heard it once I’ve heard it a thousand times” then flounced off. His publicist apologised the next day on his behalf as he didn’t realise the guy he was a cunt to was the brother in law of the guy who’s party he was at

One of the things I find odd about z-list female celebs is that they almost always date a personal trainer at some point - although they seem to only use the acronym PT
It’s really weird, like there’s some factory churning out these muscle bound, brain dead idiots so no z-lister can be left unfulfilled in their desires

David Williams now, I hate his books with a passion. Our little girl has to be pushed to read and she's actually too old for his stuff now but around 18 months ago his books would often be the choice. They were completely counterproductive to what I was trying to achieve. Absolute nonsense with no plot, font size and type changing several times seemingly on every page, made up language, nonsensical and if I remember rightly quite fat shamey in one story. Quite harmful in terms of nurturing reading ability and good ethics. Forum finally gets on topic.

The one hit wonder cunt.

He may be a little young still but when I was a young 'un I hugely enjoyed a series of books called 'Fire Brats' I was mortified when my mum brought them home from a bring and buy sale thing but I gave then a go and have read them a good few times over the years. They deal with 'coming of age' and a nuclear apocalypse so maybe 11 is slightly too young? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_Brats

I'll support you on the celebrity versions of things like MasterChef. There was on guy on there the other week who has ridiculous eyebrows and was some viral comedian on Tik Tok who I had never heard of. Are the audience for Tik Tok really watching MasterChef? I can't agree with being sad about Corden though. Cunt. Jesus fucking Christ.... the day I turn on a show and see a "viral Tik Tok star" as a celebrity guest is the day I never watch that show again. I can barely cope with "Youtubers".

I don't think celebrity really means much anymore. It's no worse than somebody who was on Big Brother or whatever. TikTok is a pretty big deal if you're not a grandad

Pretty sure my grandad thought the same about those new fangled popular music combos like the Shadows, that cliff Richard isn’t a real musician

I think singling out celebrities for being grumpy is probably not that worth getting irked about. Everybody's grumpy at some point, we all have off days, and if you live in the public eye those grumpy days are going to be noticed. It's like those photos of celebs in gossip mags without make up on. omfg they're a normal person? Who'd a thunk it.
Also though I think if you're a celebrity then you are invariably, at some level, a bit of a dick. What kind of person would be driven enough to make a name for themselves as a celebrity and seek the approval strangers in that way? A twat, that's who.
So in answer to OP's question: they all are.
The ones you meet who weren't were the ones who were pulling off the act convincingly at the time.

Yeah, If I saw Bob Geldof, I'd probably make a point to not talk to him
And Martin Freeman can't help his face

Hugh Grant is another grumpy one. I will not hear a bad word said about Hugh, he is a saint To be fair if anyone had the right to be grumpy, it's him. Generally if someone is grumpy in my line of work it's because they hate the media. Which is a shame because they also need people to promote their TV shows and projects. Honestly, the people I've mentioned are all outliers and could have just been having shitty days. (With the exception of Clarke who is clearly a dick through and through.) The great majority of people I've worked with have been lovely. Case in point, after the Dillane incident someone invited me into their put-me-up office and made me a cup of tea. It was a little act of kindness that completely turned around my day.

Friend of a friend met Grant in a bar. Apparently he was very charming. But then they were accompanied by 2 young attractive Swedish women who were over visiting, so he might have had motivation.

My eldest, back when he attended a drama club, was chosen to feature in BBC's adaptation of Walliams' 'Billionaire Boy'. Just a 'blink and you'll miss it' part as one of the kids in the street in the intro scene. He met John Thompson briefly (and quoted jazz club apparently) which was a highlight, but fuck me the books we read as background were far from the books of my boyhood. I can't imagine how stretched the credulity must need to be now, this many books after BB. Maybe the first couple were passable but diminishing returns had set in soon after.
