Did it even need a film? I haven't played the game properly, but isn't it just the best hits of horror tropes? No, but that won't stop the current trend of Hollywood, Sony, and elements of the TV industry from milking existing game IPs whether they're really worthy of a film/TV series or not. The Welcome page has finally appeared in the UK, you can customise it how you want and it doesn't have any adverts really, stuff like your wish list or the PSN store can be turned off if you count them as ads.
I've rejigged it to fit on a single page with what I want and mostly it's easy to check my available storage without having to go into settings. I imagine that more widgets will get added over time, no PS Stars on the console still seems stupid.

Very annoying the PS App stopped sending messages when wishlisted items went on sale, occasionally it got ridiculous if there were a lot of them but better some annoyance and saved money.
Hopefully they fix that soon.

Pre-ordering the Pro to me feels more akin to pre-ordering a Bethesda or EA game before reviews come out. We still haven't seen anything revolutionary to make the steep increase in price worth the upgrade - the games DF have shown off were already pretty good on the PS5 anyway. A few extra bells and whistles to games that already ran at 60fps with RT is a little pointless.
If it can make UE5 games have a higher clarity and run (almost) locked at 60 (I say almost, VRR means them running a bit under is fine by me - hell people have issue with Elden Ring but I find it absolutely fine personally) then maybe there is something there to justify it, but adding a few extra binocular-esque pixels to the trees in the background on Ratchet and TLOU is just adding a straw to a glass.

I mean that's the rub innit. You're never going to have something exclusively built with the Pro in mind and at this point with how long game dev is we're just going to be stuck in a forever cross gen loop because anything being made now has to be made with the ps5 in mind as well as the ps6.

Yeah, just like we got with the PS4 / PS5 cycle. It's no longer a leap into the next generation but a meandering slug trail leaving crawl, and most of the time us end users are just convincing ourselves our new tech is worth it as we play something that's so little improved on what came before it despite the fact that after 20 mins we can't notice any damn difference at all.
Anyway. I don't want to be Big Barry "Buzz" Killington and piss all over anybody's £700 bag of chips so I won't say any more. I don't want to detract from those that have ordered one as if you have the means to, then why the hell not and I hope you enjoy it. Nothing beats New Console Day, even as adults. Joy is joy innit.

In terms of visuals, the leaps are getting less, though resolution bumps keeps things looking nice as TV sizes have increased. This gen is worth it (compared to the last) simply for the speed of loading. If this had been the option here, where the launch machine had the "old" load speeds and the pro had the almost instant, I would have pre-ordered. A few extra pixels or some additional shadows/reflections just isn't tempting. Still, happy for all those who have one coming - saying the above doesn't change the fact it's nice getting new toys. |

Meh, I live alone, don't run a car or second gaming platform and have been digital only for 10 years.
I do remember what it was like like 5 years ago.
-Any reports how it runs on OG PS4?
There are some beefy games on the horizon.
I also get morbid thoughts that I might not see the PS6, so I'm in!

I have a PC that can do all that the PS5 Pro can do (and often even better), but if the PS5 was my main system then I would definitely be interested. I'm pissed off they ditched the drive, but I'm sure I would suck it up and buy the separate drive.
Some of the games don't look to be that much of an improvement, but some look fantastic compared to the base system (FF7 Rebirth in particular).
