For those that have played it, is it similar to the "Dark Pictures" games that are more of an interactive movie? Me and the mrs have enjoyed playing them (Man of Medan and Little Hope so far) where we each play different characters. She is not a gamer but found these quite enjoyable due to the simplicity of them and even started remembering the icons to pass the QT Events (though does have a knack of killing off my characters somehow!).

One aspect that I'm not sure can be replicated for most people on PC is the gyro stuff without certain controllers, I got all the way to the end with Sam being a survivor and I slightly fucked up the very last bit I could fuck up. Hayden's character did not leave the cabin alive. Same! I generally did well at saving most of them until the final chapters. The finale itself was absolute carnage. It is a great game and well worth playing if you haven't already. The original does look a little ropey compared to the Dark Pictures Anthology games, but still mostly fine. Sounds like it is still the best way to play.

I've only played the first of the Dark Pictures games (have been meaning to play the others), but it is very similar gameplay. By most accounts, it is by far the best of Supermassive's games as well. If your wife enjoyed Dark Pictures then she will definitely like Until Dawn.

Really feels like they just pushed this one out and forgot about it. It's been out since the 4th and I've barely seen it mentioned anywhere.
One to wait for on PS+ I guess... Or just play the original instead.
You might as well play the quarry next if you want more of the same.

Does seem like a "remaster" that didn't really need to exist That's the weird thing, its actually 'remake'. Like they point out in the video, it seems like it would have been more cost effective to just polish up the old game because, really, there was nothing wrong with it. Its so weird. Who even asked for this? Its like that 'if I won the lottery...' bit, some rich guy just decided this is his dream project rather than financing another series of Firefly or something.

Every game must be UE5.

Just think, they could have spent the money on something that was worth it. Like keeping a studio open with a new project, new IP or you know...

Along with some of the new design features (full control of the camera in sections, etc.), they’ve added a nod to a sequel at the end of the game so I assume this was a job to get the game back in the mainstream vernacular while beginning to take it forward as a franchise.

I played Until Dawn with my partner watching on. We both very much enjoyed it. Although I was also raging right at the end when one of my characters karked it because of stupid controls.
Pretty terrifying at points too I must say.

Yeah I remember getting Until Dawn at launch and me and a mate going through it over the weekend. Managed to get almost everybody killed at the end because I fudged the motion control sections.

You are all missing the point.
This remake was done entirely by AI and the release is an experiment to see if anyone notices.

To be fair, that is a pretty sexy pad. I don't see a picture of it, but can you have both the sticks at the top, like the old Wii U Pro Controller? I have a suspicion that might be the best layout, but don't think anyone else has done it.

I don’t think you can rotate that right hand modules. I’ll give it a go, though.

Until Dawn is great, it's up there with Detroit as the best in genre for it's game type. If you don't like those sort of games then it's obviously not for you, but if you do it's well worth it.

That is probably the key to it. Also a movie is coming out. Perhaps overtime the uptake will be bigger?

David Cage taught me everything I need to know about women and sex. Press X to undress. Slowly rotate penis. Slide in... out..

The movie with a completely different cast which is a bit jarring.

Didn't know they were doing a film, but sounds like a really bad idea. Part of the joy of Until Dawn is that it is like a naff horror film with unlikeable characters that you didn't mind offing through your (sometimes intentional) failures. At best, a film version will need to play on being meta, but most likely it will just end up being a shit horror film.

They should unlaunch it and come back next year as F2P.

The movie with a completely different cast which is a bit jarring. To be fair they’re all into their 40s now so having them play teenagers running around the woods would have been pushing the bar even for Hollywood. At least they still have Stormare.

Did it even need a film? I haven't played the game properly, but isn't it just the best hits of horror tropes?

Sitrep: it’s really good. It’s basically new, I think someone literally just opened the box and returned it. The modules all still have their film on them. The fight pad is great. The buttons are clicky and microswitched and the dpad is really good. You’ve got three different variations, I’ve settled on the big square one. The secret MVP might be the analogue stick, though. I switched it to Xbox orientation and put the included octagonal gate on it and it’s actually pretty great for fighting games. I think when I get used to it, this might be the new normal. And shoutout to Sony for their input management on the normal dualsense. With these more sensitive buttons, I’ve realised how absolutely cackhanded I am. I have had to turn off the extra buttons on the grip and you can lock the triggers as buttons which I had to turn off because I realised I basically sit with my fingers slightly depressing them at all times. I’m sure I’ll get used to it but the amount of accidental inputs I was getting was insane. Anyway, yeah, for 89 this is great. 160 is a harder sell but I’d have a look if they are cheap again on black friday* *they apparently have some longevity issues and I’ve only had mine a few days

I had that issue with the hori octo fight pad. Far too sensitive AND kinda broken as button placements would change over an hour of play.

Could be tempted. These elite style pads always look quite nice, but way too expensive. £89 for one isn't that much more than a regular first party pad.
Having said that, the big benefit seems to be for fighting games and I do like using my chunky arcade stick for those. It doesn't make me play any better, but it just feels right!
Plus, I had a glance to see if you could switch the right stick round to be at the top and seems that the stick has to go at the bottom on that side. Would have definitely been a purchase if you could do that.
