Amazingly I got my asking price of £350 for my PS5 with hardly any time wasters. Suppose it did have expanded storage and black faceplates, but I still expected some sort of haggling... First guy to message me offered me £200 of course, just to complete the marketplace experience. Was that a 1st gen ps5?

That ain't bad for £350. I need to shift mine.. but I can't be without it for that long.

I guess 350 is pretty good. I mistakenly bought mine in euros when I bought it off amazon here as I wasn't properly looking at the bit that asked if I wanted to use my Andorran card in euros or pounds. So I paid 530 euros for that pleasure.

Yeah, paid £449 for it 4 years ago, so was expecting to take more of a hit than that.

£350 is really good. I see CEX is giving £230 for base PS5 (disc drive versions), which isn't too bad.
Finally watched the DF video on it and, yeah, I can definitely see plenty of noticeable improvements. The comparison between Performance modes and the Pro modes were very noticeable, particularly for FF7 Rebirth (I've not played it and I was surprised how rubbish it looked on a regular PS5). Definitely can now see why some people would want to pick up the new system, although I would still say the price is at least £100 too much (and it should include a disc drive).
Something that the chap from Insomniac said did make me think about the general direction. He said that they considered their PS5 games as fidelity first games and then they "made it work" at 60fps. I wonder if in the future we could see a lot of developers not bothering with performance modes and just having a single level of fidelity (with a few tweaks here and there), but it runs at 30 on the PS5 and 60 on the Pro.
Not something I would particularly like, as I normally favour the 60fps modes, but I can see from a marketing perspective it being a simple message. They would likely want to be able to show off some fancy ray tracing on the Pro too, but splitting the systems as this one is your 30fps experience and this is your 60fps experience (or 60/120fps for less demanding games) could be a clear distinction between the systems. Also would save developers time on having to create additional modes.

Nah, I doubt we're going to suddenly see 60fps being taken away especially 1st party. If the game is cpu limited the ps5 pro won't even make a difference. It's just going to be a choice of 60fps with compromises and 60fps without. The base ps5 is still going to be the most used system they're not going to start catering exclusively for a vanishingly small install base that is the pro.

Hopefully the 40Hz modes keep on being more of a thing on the regular PS5, that seems to be a great sweet spot on performance and looks for it. Something I never realised before I long term borrowed a 120Hz capable OLED as I couldn't use it before.

Yeah, which in fairness you can pick up for £50ish these days so I didn't see the point of removing it before selling. Felt like the 2TB of the pro should be enough storage for me, as that's more than I'm used to.

You've got a boost to your total storage and yeah the price of SSDs for a PS5 have dropped a lot, I thought I'd got a bargain at 150 for a Western Digital one when the firmware update came out.

Oh for sure they're absolute bastards they'll give nothing and mark up to hell. I wouldn't sell hardware to them at all.

Oh totally. You just go in expecting it to be a B grade. Only time I had an A grade was for Google earpods that came with a new phone and they were literally still in the cellophane.
I'm just lazy and can't be bothered with eBay (and I randomly had my account banned when I last tried to use them). You can definitely get more from eBay, but if I can't palm something off on a friend then I'll normally just go with CEX - in fact, I'm likely going to drop my Vive and Index controllers off with them this weekend.

That’s my main worry selling it privately. Who knows if they turn round and say it doesn’t work now. I can’t be bothered with the faff.

With eBay you're fucked, though. They'll always side with the buyer.

I sold my PSVR2 on eBay and buyer asked no questions. The day after he received it, he raised a ticket with eBay saying it was faulty and posted a very blurry picture of the lenses and advised that it had scratches. I knew full well it hadn't a mark on it, but eBay refunded him and he returned it to me. No marks on it at all. I just think it was buyers remorse and I got the feeling he'd done this before as he never responded to any of my messages and just played the silent game.

I’m not sure this is a case of it not doing what it’s intended to do. Devs can choose how they deliver features and patches. If Remedy want to deliver higher fidelity modes should they be stopped? It says they’ve improved the 60fps mode too.

Wasn't the whole pitch of the Pro reveal "we don't want gamers to choose between fidelity and framerate. Here's a machine where you dont have to!"

yeah I've read that horseshit. Not much of a choice if you're upgrading and have a load of disc games. You're just getting fucked over.

This shouldn't be a huge surprise to anyone. Maxed out Alan Wake 2 on a 4090 requires frame generation to stay over 60fps and the PS5 Pro won't have frame generation. This won't be quite as fully featured as the PC version (it will be standard ray tracing instead of path tracing), but even still you would be looking at much hefty hardware for it to be able to maintain a good frame rate. Far better it is a solid 30fps then an erratic 60fps mode.
