I'm being a good boy and not buying this until I've completed some of my other games.
Only thing that concerns me is that it's only meant to take 8-12 hours to complete. I'm sure every moment will be great but I've got to complain about something.

The Genre Daddy, in Super Metroid, can be done in a handful of hours. I'll take focused genius over sprawling mess. That said, Hollow Knight proved you could have sprawling genius... for £12 to boot. Hold on!

The 2D Metroid games are generally pretty short. I think Samus Returns was a bit longer than most (around 10-12 hours), and even that felt padded out a bit, though maybe that's just because it stretched out a lot of the thin mechanics from the original game a bit too much. I've been playing Super emulated on RetroArch (because playing it last month on Switch just wasn't enough) and that's one of the achievements. Did make me chuckle Achievements on RetroArch? Yeah, it links in to retroachievements.org. I've only started using retroarch recently so no idea how long it's been integrated.
You need to be using a ROM with a specific hash so might have to try a few different ones.

Ah ok. I actually started playing Zero Mission on RetroArch a few days ago, already a couple of hours in. Might have given the achievements a try if I had known.

It’s a great system. I’ve got it loaded on my little emulator handheld and it’s super cool to see stuff pop. Needs a constant internet connection though.

Arrived earlier. Seems good so far - they've done a good job keeping it at 60 in gameplay, the melee counter is much less necessary against small enemies as your basic cannon does kill them pretty fast and I like the way they present the map, it makes it very clear where exactly you have and haven't been (and how you got there). I'm not too sure on the EMMI segments yet but the 'last chance' counter doesn't seem as onerous as it describes, I reckon I've got about a 50/50 chance of getting out of the capture animation.

Preordered with Simply Games in June, sent out last post yesterday. Not here for launch as both posts have been.
This happens more and more now and they just say Covid. Maybe sending out a day earlier may help?

I'd almost rather they did a post-process to make it even lower res, so it had a retro feel to it, you know? But it's a great sacrifice to get it to 60fps. The locomotion in this is almost unbelievably frictionless. They've done a great job on the controls. |
