Yeah, I'm 3 EMMI down and after the second major boss I'm enjoying it immensely. I don't think its the best in the series, but the things it does well, like movement and boss battles, it definitely does best. At least so far.

Can anyone link some spoiler free gameplay or something?
I've not looked at the trailer bar prerelease as people said there were spoilers, which I didn't catch first time around and this thread is all over the place on opinions
From what little I have seen, I wouldn't say it's a looker at all. Looked all shiny and plasticy from my memory

Trying to get out of a spin/space jump to trigger a mid air spark is definitely the bit that I just never got on with and pushed me away from a 100% run. Just too many inputs in quick succession for my old man reactions to handle.

I spent about 45 mins today to finally get my very last collectible (the awful speed block / shine spark one in Burenia).
I felt like giving up for a while but eventually even this old man managed to get my fingers and the inputs right.
Just the very last boss battle to go now. Overall enjoyed the game and thought all the other boss battles were ok. Some quite tough but felt reasonably fair.

I've not looked at the trailer bar prerelease as people said there were spoilers, There’s barely any plot so there’s nothing really to spoil unless you count ‘finds a missile’ as a big reveal. Just make sure you don’t watch a boss fight and you’re good

Looks decent actually. No jingle when you pick up upgrades though?
Might pick this up next week

Started this today as well. First impressions are really positive. Feels so good to play, so fluid. Will take a while to get used to the controls though, a little fingers and thumbs with it at the moment.

Overall enjoyed the game and thought all the other boss battles were ok. Some quite tough but felt reasonably fair. 100% completion took me 16 hours and I swear at least 5 of them were spent on the speed block / shine spark energy and missile+ tanks. Also 1 hour was wasted very early on when I could not find an exit from an EMMI area.

Started this today. It does look rather nice actually and feels great - was initially miffed at the movement being on the analogue stick but it's fine and necessary for free aiming. Controls all feel great though and the counters are snappy. The EMMIs are fun - just taken out my first proper one. Trying to counter them doesn't seem worth it (only managed it once)
Given what I've read in this thread, I'm just going to plough ahead wherever the game seems to want me to go and not explore too much until the end. So far no dead ends or getting stuck
There's been a lot of dialogue about things I could have worked out on my own though. Don't go into cold areas, this type of door is now unlocked, stuff like that

Controls are generally good but they do get a bit complicated with some 3 button combos later on. The emmi counters are worth a punt, the timing is random each time but I’ve managed it on a few occasions

After starting it a couple of weeks ago, and playing in bits and pieces, I've clocked up around 7 hours over the past two days, maybe more. Got the gravity suit last night, felt like it took forever to get it (as in, I expected it earlieer in the game). Died a lot during one of the recent EMMI sections but eventually go through - I've had to learn to make better use of the phantom cloak as opposed to going all guns blazing.
I'm unsure if I'll go for 100%. I've done 100% completions on all three Prime games but never for a 2D Metroid. Some of these spped boost / shine spark puzzles are next level. Earlier in the week I must've spent about 45 minutes trying one and then decided I'll come back another time once I have a power bomb, will hopefully make it easier.
I've not had this much fun with a game in a while. Gonna be absolutely gutted when it's finished. May need to replay Zero Mission, Fusion and Super. I deliberately didn't replay any of the Metroid games before Dread like lots of people seemed to do. Just wanted it to be all nice and fresh.

Absolutely love this. Only complaint I have is the load times between areas but otherwise it's properly good. Finding plenty of hidden items along the way and a few from wandering about (got lost for a bit once and found a couple of secrets). Feels like it just keeps getting better and better with cool new stuff to see. The different areas all look so good - visually it's quite the looker. Really love the way the foreground interacts with the background like when you're activating machinery or even animals skittering away from you No problems with the controls so far. The Spineshark or whatever it's called doesn't seem any different to the one in the other games, except this has much more responsive controls. And Samus has a dash now! Fighting those tougher enemies that chase you around the screen (and the last boss that was a Chozo solder or something) were excellent Love everything about the EMMIs as well. Their design, the creepy music, the encounters. They aren't overused so they never feel annoying. Plus it feels great when you get to finally turn the tables. Making you use the beam to open the door before an EMMI fight is a really nice bit of game design to remind the player how to defeat them
Enjoying the story and cutscenes too. Really well done
Definitely raised my opinion of MercurySteam. Their other games are still shit but not this one, this one's good

Don't think I've done that one yet. If it's the light blue, I saw him deactivated in the background. The purple one looks lovely

I tend to make myself stop at certain natural feeling points like after a boss or a major upgrade. I don't want to finish it too soon

I can't imagine playing this on a plane full of people given how much I swore at some of the bosses.
You might as well just finish it off tonight.

It's a great game overall in my opinion. The running around feels great but as someone who enjoyed the boss battles, including the final boss; the shine spark puzzles are too much imo. I know they add challenge to getting the 100% but the game does not really have you use the skills or explain them to you properly at any other point.
It just feels a bit like a fuck you gate was added to the final hurdle without warning.
Some of them are fun but many are too reliant on finger gymnastics for moves that feel too easy to get inputs wrong on. The rules feel woolly and I'm never quite sure what I do right when I get it right and what I do wrong when I get it wrong.

It's a weird game like that overall. There's no real challenge for the majority it, the traversal is fairly easy and the general combat is super basic to the point it's almost pointless and then it will chuck a roadblock at you that requires a level of skill far higher than anything you use moment to moment.
I would be interested to see completion stats on it as I reckon a lot of people could get to the end and give up on the final boss because it is a bit of a wanker (but, like every other boss, pretty much just a memory test).

That blue Emmi can fuck right off though. I was so happy when I killed him. And the purple one last night. Can't say which is tougher but so satisfying to take them both out.

The blue one wasn't too bad, even landed a counter on him. Got the kill at the last second with him right in my face

I wouldn't say pointless as it just feels good to play and counter. Difficulty doesn't equals fun. I don't think Metroid has ever been sold on its combat or difficulty. I imagine the game would be incredibly boring if you got rid of the enemies. I'm quite impressed by the combat, having a dash and quick enemies is completely new to Metroid as far as I know
Depends how you're coming at the game I suppose
