I was doing that as I don't like some of the new transition animations, until I realised it also disables the spinning loading arrow that most apps use which makes for a poorer user experience. On the lockscreen clock, leaving a notification gives a far classier clock display - an app like Signal Spy uses a permanent notification.

I have turned off the always on display. Lift to wake for time and notifications is fine for me.

Th DXOmark website does comprehensive cameraphone testing and has the Pixel 6 Pro at a very respectable 7th place. Which is not bad, considering three of them are Huawei phones that nobody in europe would touch now. My pre-order for the Pixel 6 Pro was cancelled, but I am getting one next month. By hook or by crook! www.dxomark.com/rankings/

Crazy how the Huawai's and Xiaomi's cost more than iPhones now.

vicedestroyer - Vodafone stores are doing them cheap with a free Stadia premium if you're UK based.

Cheers for the heads up, dfunked, but I'm already on a contract and am looking to buy one outright. Even though the Stadia is a cool proposition, I already have a Xbox and PS5. Even I have to say that that is more than enough and stop with the consoles. I barely have the time to keep up with the two consoles I already have. Also, Vodafone seems to only offer the vanilla Pixel 6. I want the Pixel 6 Pro.

They should do the Pro too, and this is paying for it upfront instead of on a plan. If you click on "pay for your phone in one go" it should show £703. Think you register for the Stadia separately but can always throw it on eBay or whatever. (should be the version with a controller) www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/phones/pay-monthly-contracts/google/pixel-6-proAnnoyingly you need to go into a store to do it, and some don't have a clue about the deal so you'd need to show them that page.

Thanks for that heads up! How is Vodafone selling it a whole £150 cheaper than Google? Has someone made a mistake marking the price on the site? Guess I had better take advantage of it, before someone realises. Hopefully the phone is unlocked.

Anyone got an S21 ultra? Any good? I'm getting 50% off with EE through work so the price doesn't really matter.

I haven't used one, but I think that it is almost a given that the more pricy Samsung phones are all fantastic.

Yeah, you can't really go wrong with a top end Samsung phone. Ideally you still want a Snapdragon model over Exynos, which won't be an option for you, but there's really not much in it these days.

Yeah I've had a few top end Samsungs and they've all been good. I'm just looking for the bestest fone evar since I've got it half price. Is there anything else I should be looking at, S21 Ultra seems to come out best in most places I've looked.

We are all different, innit? Personally speaking, I don't play games on my mobiles, so taking that requirement out of the equation, I think that all modern mobiles will perform standard tasks to an excellent level. I don't think that a Samsung Ultra 21 will allow you to surf for *whatever better than a OnePlus. Or a Xiaomi. So when I look for phones, I check camera quality, fast charging and screen quality. With those caveats, looking at what EE offer, I would choose from this list of phones:
Google Pixel 6 Pro Samsung Galaxy 21 Ultra Even iPhone 13 Proo (whisper it. It is a fantastic phone) And maybe the Oppo Find X3 Pro
Personally. But I am sure that you have different needs to me. Because all my phone gets used for is communicating via apps, consuming media and procrastinating.

Yeah, was going to say take a look at some of the top phones and pick what does everything you need the best (maybe add the OnePlus 9 Pro to the abovelist)
I'd probably go for the Pixel 6 Pro personally for camera quality and stock OS.

OnePlus is not available from EE, unfortunately. But yes, if Decks can choose from outside of that walled garden, certainly consider them

Proper top end phone, really fast (even compared to my S10+) great screen, cameras, etc. I'm liking it a lot. But... It is big, it's too uncomfortable to put into your jeans front pocket, and it's heavy. If are a tiddler, this will look like a giant joke phone when using it!

She vastly preferred using the Huawai and overall isn't that impressed by it considering the cost. The camera is ridonculous, mind, easily the best thing about it.

I have taken receipt of the Pixel 6. Not the Pro, because I thought that I can live without the telephoto lens. I think I have made a mistake. I miss it already. But I'll live without it. My contract us up next year in August. I'll get the Pixel 7 Pro then. Live with the Pixel 6 until then.

Bought a POCO X3 NFC off ebay, absolutely mint condition £120, it was hardly used looks like, some people have more money than sense.
Terrific upgrade from my Pixel 3A which I loved, but not willing to pay through the nose to get a Pixel 6 on EE.
Just a £12 sim and a great cheap phone will do me fine.

My phone died and then I managed to drop my spare one on concrete in the middle of ripping up carpet (as if that wasn't already fun enough)
So went for the 6 Pro of course... It's pretty nice! Ended up going with a new contract that works out as £900ish over two years, which isn't too bad considering I was willing to pay £700 to buy the phone outright.

Sorry to hear about the double damage to your phones. But pleased to hear that we are both Pixel brothers. Even though you have the stalker-friendly telephoto lens. Annoyingly, I've discovered that none of my chargers work with the Pixel 6. I've just had to spend money and but a new one from Google. Arrival date? 7/12/21. Fuck me. Is this our new normal? Have we killed the planet off of all is natural resources?

Haha, I haven't had a chance to do some creepy zooming yet, will have to try it out tomorrow. Just in general the camera is absolutely fantastic, and magic eraser is quite fun to play around with too.
My chargers work, but take something silly like 3 hours for a charge. Have a few laptop chargers around that seem to do quick charge at least (although still pretty slowly), so I'll hold off on buying yet another charger.

Did you not get a Google quick charger? Or do you need a spare?
