I broke the screen of my current Huawei P30 Pro and am keeping an eye on the new phones that are coming out. I'm looking what Google are doing with Pixel 6/Pro. I now cannot live without a telephoto lens.
But of course, it all comes down to the price. Fingers crossed it won't be a fucking grand. Because of it is, I'll just go for the OnePlus notes Nord 2.

I've just spent from 4pm to 9pm trying to sort out why my new phone was ringing out but when I rang it, it was saying it was off. I couldn't text to it either. I put the SIM back in my old one and that didn't work either.
Eventually, just add I was despairing, having tried all the network refresh etc things I could think of, I remembered I'd been helping my dad setup his new SIM and has used my phone to activate it... And had left the new SIM in my phone and have him my SIM.
I'm a total Muppet. Over four hours it took me to figure that out. Some ex telecoms person I am. I felt very old and dumb once I'd figured it out.
Tomorrow I'll get my SIM back and hopefully everything will still work after all the meeting about I did with my phone.

I had a similar dilemma deciding what to upgrade my Mate 20 Pro too. Went for an Oppo Find X2 Pro in the end as it kept the ultrawide and telephoto capability I had before in an upgraded system (and if you look around prices have really plummeted on it). I liked the look of the Xiaomi Mi 10 and 11 Ultra bit the missing bands on the 10 and price of 11 (plus the hassles and risks of having to import) |

Pixel 6 wont be cheap, they just announced the 5a for $450 , 6/6 pro will be 600/900 or something around there. |

I fear the 6 Pro will not be cheap. What's weird to me is that the feature I'm most wanting to have in any future phone I get (telephoto lens), is a feature I use roughly once a quarter. Why have I got no self-control?
Why must I pay over the odds for barely used peeping Tom features?
Hopefully once the prices get released, I'll sober up.

I recently bought a Poco F3 for £300 and slapped a pixel rom on it. It's great, feels and performs like a high end handset, for a fraction of the price.

If I were you I'd get another P30 pro cheap, unless you have 5G on your area.
You'll be surprised how well the p30 stands up against more recent phones, not worth the 'upgrade' IMO.

Yeah that's about right, take as many pics of the dog in all the spectrums, get bored with it and go back to monster busters.
It is a cool feature and could have practical uses in work shops and such.

I have a P20 Pro and nothing tickles my fancy as an upgrade. It does everything I want very competently.

I can't speak for the latest ones, but I've had a G2 and a G5S and found them dependable like you. G5S is still going strong. I have a Moto One Vision now and that's pretty good despite the weird aspect ratio. Great camera and guaranteed security updates for a few years. The main draw is the clean Android. I could never ever go back to anything else now. I have a Samsung tablet and it's such a crappy UI in comparison. Unfortunately clean Android phones are a rarity over here. Would be keen on a Pixel for my next phone but It's have to import it. |

Clean Android are rare. I believe that if manufacturers are signed up to Android One, their phones will be a clean Android experience. As memory serves, I believe the only guys signed up for the Android One programme are Nokia and Motorola.

I have a Mi A1 which was a mostly lovely clean experience (just a couple of shitty apps piled on top of it)
I ended up just sticking Lineage on it though as they seemed to just give up on updating it after a while. It's been an absolute champ as my work phone in fairness (used it instead of the Apple device I was handed)

Just got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro in a sale for £219. Pretty pleased with that. The camera and screen look very good and it's too replace an Apple, so far cheaper.

Recently setup a Moto G8 power for my mum and she really likes it. She's very impressed with the battery life but to be honest her previous phone was a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 that was falling apart and probably 10 years old. I'm still using a Honor 9 lite and wouldn't mind a newer phone but for what reason I'm not entirely sure. |

Thanks for the responses folks. Went with the Moto G30 in the end and will let you know how it goes. It came with a free set of wireless earbuds from lenovo's website.

Quite happy with my Poco X3 Pro. Had the OnePlus Nord previously, also nice phone. Just need to get rid of the firmware, not a fan of the Emui or whatever it's called.
Due for upgrade next year, but I might just end up picking up whatever the final model of Note is any go PAYG. I used to love my note, the one before they started blowing up. The pen was terrifically handy.

I was happy with my Huawei p9 smart (2019) model but the android 10 with their OS skin, is now awful. Very aggressive with closing apps even if change the settings and last update added a ton of shortcuts to their apps, easy to delete but annoying. After my shitty experience with my moto g5 (before the P9), my next phone will be Nokia android one
