I love this game. I have yet to beat the 6th boss, but I just enjoy the frantic battles intersected by genuine need for discovery. And this is coming from someone who has hated every over rogue-like I've ever tried.

I absolutely loved Returnal, GOTY from me for sure. I was quite skeptical going in based on what I'd seen of it but I couldn't put it down once I started it. I doubled down and got the platinum which I can rarely be arsed to do, and even then I was sad that it was over but it's just so good! Definitely all in for DLC or a sequel or whatever scraps they want to throw at us.

Yeah, this is up there as my GotY so far too, I thought it was brilliant despite never really liking rogue-likes.
Congrats on the getting the Plat BigOrk, I'd missed your update over on the old forum. I need to go back and collect the remaining Ciphers myself to get the platinum trophy, but wanted to free up my PS5 for a bit!

Yeah Returnal is seriously good. I loved so many aspects of it, it was just right up my street in the end, which is crazy considering how unsure of it I ws at first.

Yesterday I was going great guns. I was heading to the Ophine battle with a great guns that had homing missiles, I had an astronaut revive and I'd activated the cloning pod. But what happens when I take the first plunge into the darkness? Some big kong-like arsehole beats me to death, and then when I revive and try to flee, the bastard follows me. Utter tosser.

Even though I wasnt going for the platinum, I should have been playing it enough to pick all the logs up but never did. And a few achievements never popped or progress didnt track properly. I hit 30 proficiency a few times and never got the trophy.
Not that it matters but I figured that if they were tracking inconsistently, there is no way I could be arsed to actually chase trophies.

I hated those bastards. My tactic for 'the plunge' was to make sure I landed near the exit and just run away  But yeah if one of those big bastards clocks you they will follow you to the ends of the earth so you don't have much choice but to fight. Fortunately the solution to almost every big bastard is the Electropylon driver. |

Although it wasn't until then I realized how slow those doors open lol. |

I did it!! I defeated Ophion. Did it thanks to the help of a gun that had a warp laser thingy, I barely got hit as I could concentrate on avoiding the attacks as my warp buddy did its thing. Now I'm trying to collect all the audiologs and glyphs, and then hopefully try and get the platinum.

And the hulk like things are new to me, I don't recall encountering them during Act 1. Agreed on those drones, they can be a proper pain in the arse, same for whenever they appear in Biome 5! As for the hulk things, I'm pretty sure I fought those big machines during the first run through Biome 3. Perhaps given the procedural nature of the game they just didn't spawn first time through for you? At one pint I was locked in a room and one appeared like a mini-boss. |

With what you're doing now there is some merit in just sprinting through the level looking for new pings on your map and not fighting anybody. |
