Returned to returnal due to the new patch. Not that I have used the suspend feature yet as my muscle memory is not as good as I had hoped.
Finding it hard to progress and I'm sure that some of the mobs have been beefed up or the sword has been nerfed. The large, slow tentacled dudes used to go down in 2 or 3 swipes even with a shield. Not any more.
Maybe just a bit rusty.

You're a bit rusty. You'll be back to barely blinking and getting bullet hell tunnel-o-vision in no time.

It's weird that I almost don't remember how good the game looks because I'm just laser focused when playing the game.

When you can stop the action and move the camera around the scene you see just how shit the game throws at you. There's stuff *everywhere*. It's no wonder it doesn't hit 4K.
I didn't realise there were blood splats when you kill organic enemies until I started digging through their entrails.

The suspend feature is great for being able just stick it on for 20 minutes. Forgot just how nice it was to play.

Yeah, same. After playing, basically, just PS4 games for a while this is, to quote the Merovingian, like wiping your arse with silk. It's so good.

Dispatched the final boss on my first go after many, many deaths to get there. The rng gods were mainly the reason I got to the end. Had about 6 parasites and many upgrades including a stupidly large health pool.
The cherry on the cake was full auto 2, critical hit 2, thermogenic launcher that melted most things.
Great game but needed that suspend feature badly imo.

That final boss is ridiculously easy in comparison to what it takes to get there.

You could say that about all the bosses imo. Which is a good thing for me, I hate stupidly hard boss fights.

I think I found the 2nd boss to be quite tricky when I got to him, took about 4-5 attempts to beat him. Although this is probably down to me not having a long life bar and using the shotgun. Once I found the eletropylon it was just a much simpler game.

The first boss is the most difficult hump to get over. Its not really more or less difficult than any other boss, you just arrive there with a *lot* less tools. Once thats done its a fairly straight line to the end.

I managed to do the first boss on the first go but only because I had an astronaut. But yeah, going back to redo it it's amazing how much of a cake walk it is.

I think I did them all first or second go other than the flying big face rhing (4 maybe) which took me 3. I much prefer that than having to replay the fucking things countless times.

I was surprised at just how severe the rng was in this at times. After picking it back up due to the patch and starting at level 4, I had a run where I didn't get a gun from a chest until locked in a chamber many, many rooms after I had spawned with the pistol.

Jesus Christ. After idling around in the first 3 biomes for quite some time, I finally beat Nemesis?, 5th attempt maybe. Some fucker phoned me briefly during the cutscene and then I'm dumped into level 4. I think I need to learn some new skills as the difficulty has certainly ramped up for me.

Same, just got to biome 4 and it’s tough. Boss seems easy though. The narrative bit that happens after Nemesis is so fucking cool. The suspend update has elevated this to masterpiece IMO.

I found that, too. Consistently badly in biome 3, especially. I had several runs where I found no weapons and every health pickup and chest was malignant. It was the thing that hampered my progress the most, tbh. I hit the boss twice with the end of level pity pistol.

So just picked this up and am struggling. I'm at the 1st boss (I think he's the main one at the end of the first biome - he has loads of arms and a triangle for a head?)) I can get him down to his 3rd health bar, but I just can't keep on top off how frantic it is.
It doesn't help that I'm always getting to him with only a sliver of health.
I feel like I'm missing something about upgrading my character or weapons to make me more survivable, what bits can I upgrade so I don't feel like I'm always losing progress? I like to feel like I'm moving forwards, even if it's some small way like. New ability to make things easier or a better weapon.

Once thats done its a fairly straight line to the end. This is great advice, it's the hardest part of the game and is more about teaching you what's to come. After that it's challenging but never as hard as when you come up against the first boss.

Definitely try and buy an astronaut to revive yourself and maybe a health pack too. Just keep strafing and shooting and don't precise aim.

There are so many little things that add up to make the game noticeably easier, especially early on: Not opening crates until you get your proficiency as high as possible is a good one. Don't be scared of parasites. Turn on perma-sprint. Remap jump to L1. Astronaut and Adrenaline Leach are probably the best items.

Is that from the room with the fabricator?
I don't recall seeing an astronaut there, but I did get one at the end of the house sequence) I never seem to have enough, ooblets (or whatever the currency is called)
How does adrenaline work?

The more enemies you kill without getting hit the more buffs you get. They reset when you get hit.

Yeah from the shop or any other fabricator you find, obviously it depends on the RNG. It does get easier.

Adrenaline doesn't make you stronger then? I always feel like I'm being reset when I lose my adrenaline level.
I'll have another run and see if I can see (and afford) the health pack and astronaut then.
Is there an easy way to get money?
On a side note I'm really loving the atmosphere, and it feels like I'm playing a PS5 game.
