Well Scomo can fuck right off and it looks likely at this stage although the ALP have a habit of imploding. They have a solid environmental package, not enough though but certainly much better. Still I'd not vote for them directly although they'd get my preferences.

Starting to seem like discussing who is to blame / what can be be done to prevent things is pointless. Really feels catastrophic climate change is going to happen within our lifetime and we need to work out as a planet how to live with it. 🙁

Nuclear war could be prevented by just not launching the nukes. It feels like that opportunity has already been missed with climate change. 5 years ago, 0% chance of that 1.5°c rise. Now it's 50/50. What's it going to be in 5 years time.
I'm not saying we shouldn't try, but it really is feeling inevitable.

It is inevitable, the idea that we’re going to refrain from burning fuel for a sustained 1000 years is incredibly naive.

I've also given up but it's only inevitable due to greed , it doesn't have to be like this, we shouldn't just accept it.

I also feel how to live with it will be "bye you're on your own". It'll be the same way we now live with Covid. I.e. pretend it doesn't exist and hope for the best. I'm probably going to be dead in 35-45 years, but even then I'll likely see the world starting to burn. That's only meant in a semi-metaphorical sense.

I'm a sunbeam of optimism.
I'm going by the average life expectancy, it's just being realistic.

The only thing I cling onto is that it is affecting the most powerful country in the world. If there is any chance of mobilising change it would need to.

Both Labour and Tories talking about Ulez being a bad idea and walking back green policies to avoid public backlash while the world burns and we have a mini monsoon.

It won’t improve without the governments of the world working together and forcing oil, coal, gas, concrete and plastics companies to drastically change what they’re doing.
No idea how we get to that ever happening.

It's not when COP is now a place where those companies and governments meet up to wank each other off
The 1.5c target by 2030 was unrealistic before this year but we now know it's not happening
