I can't see them bothering to do that though, they've almost certainly been snooping on absolutely everything that was being sent to those pagers (and other comms devices) and burning them all like that is a waste. I think what X201 said seems the most likely thing, they'd been blown so they thought fuck it and hit the kill switch.

The weird thing is that pagers are incredibly insecure, so I don't even get why they were using them. A $50 RTL SDR with PDW Paging decoder software is all it takes.

They were probably more worried about GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi.

I guess so, you can read the message, but it gets send to a number, but you don't know who has that pager or where it is.

Is this some sort of fuck up by Mossad, assuming it's them as it doesn't seem likely for anyone else? Indiscriminately blowing up technology seems like a real waste of the effort put in rather than targeting things surgically at individuals. It's terrorism though and certainly criminal. It's very on-brand for Mossad both to be indiscriminate and to fuck things up. It's not just the treatment of Palestinians that's made the Israeli government unpopular and distrusted, but a long tradition of shit like assassinating innocent people, or that Yitzhak Shamir, before joining Mossad and later becoming prime minister, started out as a terrorist who among other things orchestrated the murder of UN negotiator Folke Bernadotte (who had saved thousands of people from German concentration camps before the end of WW2). They've never not been crazy.

No weirder than the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha on the throne of England, and at least we both avoided the bloody Habsburgs. One of the better choices of ruler for us: Ran out of royals, imported competent French general, declared war on France, got Norway as a prize.

Yeah but it's the whole revolutionary republican France bit that makes it funny. Doubly so that it actually stuck for 200 years. Getting a random German noble is boring.

I'm very much enjoying that every time one of their massive ammo dumps explode they're saying "oh the drones didn't hit it, we just shot them down and the debris started a fire." It's the same fucking result even if it's true comrade (which it probably isn't), the ammo goes BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
More please, make it so there's no targets left to strike with long range missiles, waiting for Biden to get his head out of his arse is pointless.

They claim to have shot down two with "air defence", which might even be true. But Ukraine said the last one was hit by about 100 drones, the airfield before that by one or two dozen, and the Russian "air defence" we've seen from previous strikes has been small arms fire.

Have to wonder, with the advancement in drone warfare in the last two years, how long before we see them being used for more domestic terrorism purposes? It's kind of democratized the use of short range missiles.

It's kind of democratized the use of short range missiles. Worth remembering the stuff Ukraine has used for these bigger long range strikes is much larger. I assume they have more purpose-built drones for it now, but when they started hitting airfields, refineries and fuel depots they were using light fixed-wing aircraft (think small Cessnas) rebuilt to be remotely operated. Possible to do on a small scale, but requires a lot more money, expertise and work than something like a car bomb if you want to hit a domestic civilian target.
But you could certainly do terrible things by just strapping explosives to commercially available drones now.

Very sparse info and we should obviously note that it's just Ukranian sources with no other confirmation, but apart from the huge strikes on weapons depots in Russia there's been quite a lot happening in just a few days.

Presumably they can use the Storm Shadow and any other long range system etc on occupied Ukrainian land right?

Storm Shadow/SCALP use is fine within the pre-2014 borders.

Presumably they can use the Storm Shadow and any other long range system etc on occupied Ukrainian land right? Generally yes, as I understand it. The US seem to have attached some "preferences" for how their stuff is used even in Crimea and Donbass (no idea if that's still the case), but I know the French at least haven't minded them using SCALP (Storm Shadow) and Hammer (guided bombs) as they see fit in any occupied territory. I assume the UK has the same stance on that as the French.

So what does Netanyahu think the end game is here?
The war on Gaza seemed like it was about beating Hamas and seizing more land for occupation but even with Hezbollah present Lebanon is a sovereign country.
Is he trying to provoke Iran and the US into open war?
