Can imagine in the future a lot more sites than need defending from drones will end up having point defence weapons with things like Phalanx.
This war has certainly changed things.

We've been in conflict with Russia for years, it's just not been all out warfare. Fuck off Russia, you're boring everyone.

in terms of direct impact on state government all parties said before they wouldn't enter coalition with AfD and that's sticking - CDU (angela merkel's party) will end up banging together some oddball coalition with BSW, new splinter party who are economically left but also anti-migrant and too putin friendly for my liking
important to remember saxony & thuringia are fairly small. it's not the big and bold "rise of the far right" stories papers in the uk will make it out to be but it is a trend and it is a worry
2 day later edit because it's not worth bumping: spoke to friend in Germany this evening who's a bit more pessimistic than me - his take is that AfD will win Brandenburg at end of this month and that'll spark moves against Scholz ahead of nationals next year which won't come to anything but will result in SPD getting fucked next year and CDU taking control again. He noted that some quite disturbing anti immigrant speech is now prevelant on both the left and the right, whereas in the UK it's limited to the right who are proficient at appealing to the left

Michel Barnier is the new French Prime Minister, could be interesting with our relations with France, can't have a better person to try and rejig things when it comes to Brexit.

I'd support that. Though I think the main issue is that at the moment it goes from
< 13 = no access (but you lie and say you're over 13) to > 13 = full access to all the world's hate.
If they legally ban them for under 13s, and then require phone manufacturers to implement some kind of 'teen mode flag' and require media apps to respect that, then they could lock in the 13-18s in a more restricted environment.
Be a pain to implement though.

They'll change their tune soon enough when they realise how many dollarydoos in ad revenue their party donors will be losing.

Yeah, just read that. What on earth do they mean their pagers all exploded? That's not a thing. Is it?

Certainly a WTF?! moment of the day.
Actually it wouldn't surprise me if Israel is behind this. They probably realised that Hezbollah communicate mainly through pagers - through hacked software to overcharge the pager, battery explodes or a dodgy geezer selling pagers a la Del Boy who is really a Mossad agent.
