It's shit but I welcome it. Maybe people need to learn, AGAIN, about the empty, easy promises for complex issues that can't be fulfilled by the Far Right. The real danger is the damage they can cause in the interim.

True but maybe people who keep saying "they're all the same" and are complacent as fuck about their own freedoms and rights need to be reminded how important it is to be invested in your country's political process.

Well shit, didn't see this one coming.
This could be a properly dark time coming up. Trump in America, Le Pen in France, AFD polling significantly in Germany.
This isn't going to end well.

Ok so turns out we were just ahead of the (cunty and self-destructive) game with Brexit. Great...

Why do they have presidential elections separate from Parliament elections if the president could just change anyway in a parliament election?

Well, on positive note (for me at least) our racist fuckwit party did significantly worse than last time and much worse than their result in the last GE. The Greens and the Left party* massively overperformed. I'm guessing because things like climate issues have more weight in a European perspective than domestically. The result overall was pretty centrist, leaning slightly left.
(* Traditionally "proper" socialists, but have taken on the mantle of old school social democrats over the past 30 years.)
But yeah, doesn't look so great elsewhere, even if it could have been worse.

Are these more of a protest vote than an actual endorsement? Back in the day I don't remember the UK European Election results bearing much resemblance to the national votes.
(Didn't Farage and the Brexit party almost always get the most votes, followed by the LibDems, whereas in national elections they'd get almost nothing)

But then the public finally get to see what these parties are all about rather than just being on the sidelines shouting how they would fix things but not having much scrutiny on their policies. Obviously, yes, in its worst form it will be like Hungary and Poland with the rampant corruption and cronyism. We all know what the French are like when it comes to not putting up with the bullshit of their leaders. So when they fuck up and they will fuck up, people will finally get to see the reality of things. Hopefully.

We're having local and euro elections this Friday and I'm kinda expecting the worst. The hard racists have been out setting fire to places that are due to house refugees and the bullshit pipes of social media are clogged with propaganda. I'm guessing that, in the same style as Brexit, medium and low level racists are now going to feel more free to act. So far, it's not too bad. A couple of far-right candidates got elected in the locals in Dublin wards. Elsewhere, there were quite a few candidates that came close in the first count but subsequently failed to collect transfers as others were eliminated. Unexpectedly, some of the protest vote left Sinn Fein and migrated to local independents, it'll be interesting to see if the same thing happens once a GE is called. So, I'm pretty happy with that. Definitely a rise in far-right sentiment but, while widespread, it doesn't seem particularly deep. For now.

In the unlikely event any of us is planning on going to Bolivia soon probably wise to give it a swerve, it's all gone a bit Ghost Recon:Wildlands.

Not Bolivia, but we have had to make substantial alterations to our October trip to Ecuador as apparently Guayaquil is now strictly off limits to anyone who doesn’t wish to die.

Did 3 days in Bolivia 4x4 tour to Argentinian border. Amazing place. Was influenced by wildlands which I played a year and half before. Do recommend it but maybe not now.

Pyongyang Says It Will Send Troops to Ukraine Within a Month
Russia and NK are perfect for each other, they threaten everyone else and act like the victim and promise world war if anyone else sends troops to Ukraine

If Nato put troops on Ukraine soil then that's WW3, but it's OK if we bring our mates onto the battlefield.

Load of bollocks IMO.
If Russia don’t have the logistics to fight at a close distance there’s zero chance the DPRK do for a vast distance. Paper tiger.
They’ve never been a threat since Matteus Nilsson took them down in Mercenaries 1.

Lol that'll go well.
Koreans taking orders from Russians and not enough food or ammo for any of them.
Maybe they'll turn on each other.

Aren't the DPRK troops supposed to be engineers so they'll be building shit rather than actually fighting? Won't stop them getting hit by artillery or drones though. At least until they defect.
I preferred using Jennifer Mui in Mercenaries myself, sending the trio into Ukraine would probably sort it out fairly quickly if given enough budget for bombs.

Seems like it opens up for any country to do the same for Ukraine then. No need to invoke NATO, just some friends helping out friends.
