Happy '8 billion of us day' to all. We'll be 9 before you know it. It was only 3.6 billion in 1970 when I added to that number, Christ.

I'm sure cramming all of those people into the cooler parts of the planet won't be a problem as the rest of it becomes totally inhospitable.

Sort of one of those "two birds, one stone" kinda things... Meanwhile, the UN has passed a resolution - which is legally worthless, but notable nonetheless - saying that Russia should pay reparations to Ukraine. This is part of Russia's reponse... Well now. I wonder how we could avoid that happening, Vassily? Hmmm...

I would also suspect this is Russia getting desperate. They probably didn't expect outright condemnation at COP and the meeting of US/ China has probably put them on the backfoot.
Iran, their man backer, is currently in a state of unrest and who knows how that will play out.
Reports suggest Russia is running low on everything and this could be a desperate attempt to just bomb the shit out of everything and buy time.

In China Continuing to Midhandle Covid news They've had some outright violent protests, by Chinese standards, in Guangzhou. Looks like it's poor workers being put under lockdown, not paid and not able to eat. They're still going hard on zero Covid, for some reason and it's going badly. It's so nuts going to gigs, pubs, restaurants, work etc and meanwhile over in China they're using military style measures to tackle the exact same disease.

I can see this removing further restrictions on the type of weapons sent to Ukraine. Some long range missiles e.g.

Russia has used all their good weapons and are firing shit from North Korea and Iran, maybe they'll stop using the long range stuff that could go astray to another country or they don't give a shit.
Happens again and Ukraine gets the long range stuff from the West they've wanted for ages.

Wasn't depopulation a pressing issue last month? A looming disaster where there wouldn't be enough youngsters to administer our dementia drugs or work in the adult diaper factories in 30 years time.

Where is Nuclear Ghandi when the world needs him?
Anyway, not expecting too much. They will just say it was a mistake (which admittedly it probably was), maybe someone at Putin's side will be used as a scapegoat, and since NATO doesn't want to be in a big open war anymore than Russia does, they will accept it. Not sure about Poland but then they never liked Russia in the first place so nothing will change.

There is a chance they are Ukrainian anti air missiles according to the BBC so I wouldn't get all in a panic just yet. They are as of now unverified and could very easily be Russian disinformation but we will have to wait and see.

Lots of the Twitter OSINT community seem to be saying the debris parts look like they could be anti-air missiles which would mean they were launched by Ukraine.

Two people in Polamd are dead because of that attack. Whichever side made the central mistake, this is still on Russia.
