With this rate of improvement, we'll get to 4:3 soon. Though of course then we'll all need to upgrade our oldfashioned widescreen tvs to newfangled 4:3 ones.  |

The switching of aspect ratio is weird on BRDs for IMAX scenes but it is quite spectacular at times.

Yeah, just means smaller black bars. I was thinking most useful for mega screens (eg projecting).

Wife and I are watching Feud, which is about Bette Davis and Joan Crawford making a movie together in the '60s, is by Ryan Murphy (who is staggeringly prolific), and which has a ludicrous cast - Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, Alfred Molina, Stanley Tucci, and so on (including some great cameos).
It's pretty great, if you like that kind of character-driven semi-biographical stuff Murphy does so well (CF the American Crime Story series, particularly the amazing The Assassination of Gianni Versace). Anyway it's on Disney+, so recommending it here.

It's the sort of film you watch when doing the ironing. There you go Dwayne, you can stick that on the poster. |

Re-subbed for a month. I used to get 4K HDR where available until my sub ran out earlier this year, but now I only get HD on everything, whether I use my smart TV or the PS5. I've been in the app settings and it's definitely set to allow 4K, and I've got a fast wired connection. Google doesn't turn up much - anyone else had this?

PS5 uses the PS4 app, so it tops out at 1080p SDR. Same with Prime video.
Not sure the issue with your smart TV though.
