I'm increasingly tempted to get back into VR. I had a PSVR and though it was fun whilst the initial VR wow factor persisted the niggles fairly quickly wore me down to the point that it sat there gathering dust and was eventually ebayed. I spent a small fortune on various PSVR games and experiences as the best bit was always that first exploration of a new space. Then only actually played them for about 1hr each and ended up feeling a bit burned by it all. Combination of superficial games, mediocre motion controls, blurriness and setup faff. Have therefore been waiting for a significantly better experience to drop at the right price (i.e. not >£1k).
I've been reading Quest 3 reviews and it actually sounds like most of my issues with PSVR have been overcome.
I'd be mainly using it for PC sim racing, and surprisingly given I'd assumed there'd be major latency and image quality issues from compression, the reviews from that community are massively positive. Apparently it's far better than the likes of the Vive and G2 for this particular niche as it seems pancake lenses and AR are a bit of a game changer for virtual cockpits.

Also any glasses wearers in here with a Quest 3? Any issues with scratching lenses or light leakage with glasses on - these blighted my PSVR experience a fair bit?
However now that PC support is being added, PSVR2 is also an option and I do have a PS5 (though barely use it and was considering selling). Feels like it'll end up being horribly compromised, but then I presumed that about the Quest 3 too.

Quest 3 owning speccy twat here and no issues with wearing my chick magnets using the Q3. Got a nice slideable interface that helps.
Like yourself I came from PSVR1 to the Q3 and it's a night and day difference. I actually use it for a start. Don't have a gaming PC so my usage is entirely standalone but they better lenses, huge sweet spot, built in speakers, controllers etc are all game changers.

I'm a stubborn fool that won't buy a Facebook product (whilst still using WhatsApp), but Quest 3 does appear to be the best headset around. John from Digital Foundry is big fan of it, particularly commending the lenses and really impressed with the streaming tech. He seems very anti a wire though, which I can't say has particularly bothered me about my Vive (yes, wireless would obviously be better of all else was equal, but I only find the cable a minor inconvenience).

Cheers, yeah the Q2 isn't particularly interesting because of those fresnal lenses and lack of AR for tea location purposes. Plus I think I actually would play a few integrated games in the living room away from the PC so would still get some benefit of the greater horsepower in the newer unit. If it's genuinely so good that it renders traditional monitors redundant I can actually fund a decent chunk of the purchase price by selling my triples (getting that floor space back in the office would also be handy), so the price of the 128GB version is reasonably in reach and I'd also be happy to spend a bit on accessories for comfort. If I'm honest I'd sort of written off decent PC VR as costing a grand by the time you add towers and controllers and had stopped paying attention to VR in general as a result. The fact that the Q3 is seemingly good, and not stupidly expensive was a pleasant surprise. |

The single cable never bothered me much either, and as with all wireless tech, if the battery doesn't last long enough to be a non-issue it's a bit moot anyway. My problems with PSVR were more that it just didn't work as a cohesive experience thanks to blurriness (even with PS4 Pro), and tracking issues. Was forever adjusting everything and obviously room scale experiences never really worked properly because the whole thing was dependent on the camera on top of the TV. |

Yeah, I never used it myself, but the original PSVR seems like it cut far too many corners to be a good VR experience. PSVR2 seems to be in a completely different league and looks to be a decent improvement for me to go to from my Vive. Assuming PC support isn't too much of an arse, I will definitely be very interested.
Only downside is that my Index controllers will be redundant. Was hoping to be able to use them for whatever new VR headset I got, mostly because I like them a lot, but also because they were really expensive!

Quest 3 user here.
I think the device is great. I decided on the Quest 3 over the PSVR2 purely due to it being standalone and cable free, and I don't regret it one bit. Its also actively supported by Meta and has a large library of games which really helps. You get Asgards Wrath 2 free with it as well which is an excellent, fully fledged 80hr RPG.
The pancake lenses are great. You just slap it on your head and everything is in focus. You don't have to mess around trying to find the sweet spot. Everything is super clear and sharp, no god rays (unlike my old Oculus headset).
I mainly use mine to play 'Eleven Table Tennis', which is really rather good and which I am slightly addicted too.

PSVR2 still gets lots of use here. It is lacking in regular AAA titles but has plenty of others that you'd expect. Issue is they are mostly available on other platforms which are cheaper. It is a massive improvement over the original though.

Another quest question: can you transfer games to a PC or NAS to save redownloading them when you run out of space?
Hard to justify the 512GB version but our internet connection isn't great (40Mb) so downloads >10GB are a bit of a pain.

Looks like Flat2VR are working with developers to make official conversions of flat ps5 games, and have source code of several title already.
Sold my psvr2 late last year (felt guilty buying it) but got a bit of Vr itch. Gah! (I’m not watching endless q3/psvr2) videos on YouTube.

If I was PC-centric I’d just go the Meta 3. I did it, and you were right. Absolutely incredible how far the technically technology has come. The AR stuff has really surprised me. I thought it would be a gimic but the AR interface with reliable hand and finger tracking is astonishing. Done a bit of simracing in AMS2 and it's as incredible as promised. Pancake lenses make all the difference. The fidelity of the cockpit interior and being able to see the instrument dials without straining your eyes or artificially moving your head to get them into the sweet spot is so much more immersive. There's no going back. Otherwise I've been quite impressed by the first few minutes of Asgard 2. Plus pleasantly surprised by how well steamVR works just over WiFi 5. I have a pretty carefully managed Unifi setup but was lead to believe wifi6 was a must and it's not. Only negatives are the ones everyone else says. The supplied strap is crap (initially fine but nose pain after an hour), and the battery life not great, especially when AR is on. Think I'll buy one of those Bobovr battery straps to sort both. Still, it really feels like a giant leap forward and a decent taste of Apple's Vision for the future at a fraction of the price. |

Currently making the exact same mistakes I made in the honeymoon period of my PSVR and splurging on games and plastic tat daily. Craving those new experiences and environments.
Impulse ordered a golf accessory off Amazon after being incredibly impressed with Golf+ and Walkabout.

The AMVR quest 3 golf club arrived. Initially thought there were major tracking issues in Golf+ (literally every shot a slice) but they seem specific to playing PCVR via Virtual Desktop and don't happen with the Q3 native app so I need to figure out what's going on there. Works well in Walkabout too. Feels good in the hand and would recommend for the price.
Also had my HonsVR magnetic lenses arrive today (one week from China). Only given it 5mins but they seem 'correct' and it's certainly more comfortable to be able to take my glasses off and get my eyes closer to the screen for better FOV. Seem like very decent value for money thus far.
My BoboVR S3 Pro is apparently on its way from China now too. Comfort and battery are the main issues right now. The supplied strap is just crap and I can't really see how Meta ever thought it would work. It's just not balanced. Either feels loose due to the weight over the eyes, or too tight when it's pressing into your face. Adjusting it for different users is laborious. It's the one area where my old PSVR was better.

Got my Bobovr S3 Pro. Highly recommended, so much more comfortable and combined battery life is now over 5hrs.
Still loving the quest 3 in general.
My girlfriend and I are a bit obsessed with Walkabout Mini Golf. She typically has no interest in games but she spending hours a week on this. With all the dlc courses I genuinely think it's one of the best, most accessible and fun games I've played. It's the Wi Sports of its generation.
Otherwise I'm still regularly playing golf+, mostly the daily and weekly tournaments. Playing Pro mode and going round in 20 something over par because I'm shit at golf is quite realistic and therefore makes the good shots so satisfying.
Also started the 7th Guest VR via Steam / Virtual Desktop. Great atmosphere and fun puzzles. Cost a fiver and looks fantastic via virtual desktop.

Even with a £100 discount PSVR2 is still feeling like too much of a reach until more single player AA+ games arrive imo. GT7 and RE:V (and WD S&S?) are undoubtedly essential in VR but after that it’s more of a struggle (Moss 1 & 2 aside?)

Somewhat ironic 2 new very good looking PSVR2 games on the state of play for end of year. Behemoth and Aliens game both looking great! If they keep incoming every 6 months like that PSVR2 future may yet still be rosy...

They’re dropping 5 VR2 games into PS+ during the period too. Nothing groundbreaking, but most fun enough, and an easy way to add some things to your library.

Walkabout Minigolf is one of the games, which is excellent. Think Saints and Sinners is pretty good too (I have chapter 1 on PC, but haven't actually played it).
