I posted in psvr2 thread about the new no man's sky update utilising the foveated eye tracking which is supposedly excellent.
No one tried it yet?

Nice displays in the quest 3, but comfort wasn’t high on the list of priorities, again. Someone should tell the Zuck that they are making devices for human beings.

Oh, we do have a general VR thread. Search on this site really is rubbish.
Probably nothing (which is why I didn't think it deserves its on thread), but apparently there is a lot of things going on with SteamVR lately. Updates to the platform have increased massively. Some are speculating that it could be signs of something new brewing from Valve, perhaps the often rumoured Deckard VR device.
As I say, might be nothing, but fingers crossed the PC space will actually get a decent modern headset that isn't a Zuckerberg Facebox device.

Lex Fridman interview with Mark Zukerberg. Incredible tech.

It’s impressive tech, but it involves a lengthy scanning process, and I’m pretty sure this was hooked up to a beefy pc, and the facial expressions had a manual clean up process because those sensors tend to be more jittery in real life.

My meta quest 3 just turned up. What’s the best head strap? Default one feels like it’s simultaneously too big and yet too small. I’d quite like one that can deal with small head sizes so my ten year old can have a ten minute blast a day on some of the ‘experiences’, he says it keep falling down and he can’t see the top half of the screen.

I got one of these for Xmas. Out of stock at moment though. Have also heard good things about the BoboVR strap that also has a back up battery with it. amzn.eu/d/3G9swRz£30 (don't be ripped off by the official Quest strap) and it works a charm. My kid (8) found it much easier than the default strap too.

After a long time, the UEVR injector is finally here. uevr.io/Theoretically makes any UE4/5 game VR compatible.

Jesus, this works so well. Boltgun is brilliant, Pinball FX is so seamless you’d think it’s native, just about to try Mass Effect.

The new injector sounds great. My CV1 is packed away and my PSVR2 is sitting under the TV so no chance for me to test it out. I am waiting for more news on Deckard before I dive back into PCVR. Appreciate more reactions as this is a bit of a game changer.

I forgot ME was UE3 so no go there. But did just try Blood Bowl 3, which was awesome. Like playing the tabletop game but better. Also tried The Expanse, which worked well for gameplay, but the cutscenes jump around randomly. There's probably a way to fix that but I'm not bothered about tinkering. Only one that's been absolutely unplayable for me so far has been Colony Ship, which is an isometric turn based game that uses mouse controls. It runs, but the layer for interaction is on the 2D GUI so it's next to impossible to actually click on a tile for movement etc. Here's a big ol list of UE4 games if anyone wanted to give any a try: www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_use_Unreal_Engine_4

I'm considering going for an MQ3 given some of the recent pricing of the 128GB model (£450ish). Would that amount of storage hamper me in the long run, or should I just suck it up and get the 512GB? I've got quick internet, but at the same time prefer to have a few things installed and ready to go.

128gb is just about ok, most games have a relatively small file size.
I've had a VR revelation over the last couple of weeks. Had previously owned a PSVR but due to the faff never maxed my usage plus unless it was a stationary game that I could play seated I'd get VR sick.
However, picked up a Quest 3 before Christmas and finally managed to get some time in. Asgarths Wrath 2 has totally sold me now, no sickness, it's immense. AW2, Walkabout Mini golf, Eleven Table Tennis are all incredible. Synth Riders and Puzzling Pieces in Mixed Reality are great fun.

Yeah, PSVR seems like such a faff to get set up, so I doubt I'd really use it after that initial honeymoon period. Plus support just seems to have nosedived for it. Shillup really sold the Quest 3 to me in a recent vid, and it'll finally allow me to play HL Alyx too I guess. Fuck it, yolo!

PSVR2 really isn’t a faff (the original absolutely was), but you are obviously tethered.

I don't find the tether that big a deal really. And set up is easy as - sits next to the ps5, up and running in seconds.

Just seen that about PSVR2. Good news and sounds like they are aiming for it to be available this year. PSVR2 likely would have been a day one purchase for me if it had of worked out the box on PC. I've been hoping for a non-Facebook headset to replace my Vive for a while now, with the Index not looking like quite a good enough upgrade.
Wouldn't be surprised if you are going to need an additional bit of tech to connect it though.

Argh, that does sound more likely. If it is that, I'll be back to waiting on Valve to get a move on with an Index 2.

That's going to be the challenge though, the compatibility, both software and hardware, with just a single USB-C connection is going to be a nightmare to market. It'll either be a breakout box or video streaming as suggested, anything else would be insane.

New news on the PSVR 2 headset for PC, there has been a firmware update recently adding support for Nvidia GPUs, as well as removing some of the checks that were in place to make sure it is connected to a PS5.
The makes it more likely that they will be allowing a direct wired connection into the GPU and not some kind of streaming solution. But, as we already mentioned, this will require a connector to hook it up, with very few PC GPUs having USB-C ports nowadays. There are also suggestions that Sony are looking to drop support of the PSVR2, following lacklustre sales. They have already recently paused production to clear the current excess supply, so not sure how all that would make sense with them now suddenly starting production on a peripheral to get it working with PC.

I wouldn’t mind one to replace my Reverb G2.
