For all things PCVR (Rift, Index, Vive and the rest) oh and Oculus Quest. So Lone Echo 2 delayed again shock horror!

I was just reading about them the other day, they are actually meant to be pretty good now and sync well with the vr films. Things have come a long way since finding a stash of porn mags in the woods

Tbf I rarely use the controllers with it, those are the worst part. Great for Flighsim, iracing and showing people VR porn, my dad was impressed the dirty bugger.

LOW-FI looks gorgeous but the guy behind it is a bit flakey no real game play has been shown in 2 years since it left Kickstarter.

The Western campaign in Pistol Whip is very very good. It's free if you already have it so give it a go if you haven't.

The Firewatch mod is looking good. Full tracking and full motion controls. These GIFs confirm that the mod will have motion controller support, including being able to point at items with your hand, grab them from afar and then physically hold them. It’s being modded directly in-engine to hopefully make for a native-feeling experience.

There's some pretty good looking VR mods coming out now. There's a MechWarrior 5 one that's looking promising too. uploadvr.com/mechwarrior-5-vr-mod-available/Will have to get myself some programming skills, as I'd love to do something like this.

The Firewatch mod is looking good. There was a VR version of the tower made for an episode of the Foo Show VR show. It was part of an interview where the devs were chatting about how they constructed the environment (they were avatars and you could wander around picking stuff up as they chatted). I recall trying to lean on the doorframe and at the last second realised I wasn't in the actual VR space.
*Edit. The mod is available but you need to be a Patreon to get it. Oh well.

Only thing I have really played so far is The Room VR. I loved those puzzle games on my phone/tablet, but VR is just SOOO right for them, the faint threat of peril, the Victorian settings, the physicality of the puzzles.
Having no wires or tracking issues is just fantastic. Gave robo recall a quick whizz (a favourite from my Rift days) and it felt much more like I could go in any direction.
Also got the Link to work with a 5m wire and booted up Lone Echo, and even with a wire the general tracking is just much better, less nausea, and less (no) crashing.
The video pass thru is also a major qol upgrade.

Got my silicone face cover thing for my quest. It's so much better and more hygienic than the default one.

Got my Rift S out yesterday - first time in a while. Realised that at some point I must have qualified for a free copy of Asgard’s Wrath, as it has popped up in my library, so will give that a shot tonight

I brought an OG Quest in 2019 after having PSVR and absolutely loved it. Since playing through Half-Life Alyx last year I think I have maybe put the headset on about 3 times? I don't know if it is me but it just feels like there is absolutely nothing to look forward to or on the horizon (lone echo 2 notwithstanding) which really gets me interested in VR again. Is there anything that I should be looking out for?

Well, having tried out Asgard's Wrath tonight I can confirm its high production values, though perhaps not quite on the level of Alyx.
Lo-Fi looks interesting, though who knows when we'll see it.
Developers clearly not keen to develop purely for VR. The issue I have is that games like Elite:Dangerous are far better in VR, and yet I can't play anything in VR for more than an hour or two before wanting to stop.

I mainly use my CV1 Rift for Flight Sims and Racing Sims, but some of the clunkiness of the old system is getting to me a bit: It's still reliant on external sensors having a good field of view (and my desk is too big and messy basically), and the resolution is just... bad.
So I'm kinda wondering between picking the Quest 2 and the HP Reverb G2. My main consideration is that the Quest 2 is monetarily cheaper, but is partly paid for by having to give my personal data to Facebook again and being locked in to the Oculus ecosystem which tends to have its own problems (like finding out that you have to give your personal data to Facebook again if you want to keep using the OG rift). Anyone got some pointers to help me choose? Downsides to the HP Reverb in particular would interest me.

I just upgraded from a CV1 to a Quest 2. The inside out tracking and wirelessness is great. I believe the G2 is a better headset, right? But you need to tether it to a PC. (I note it's minimum spec is a gtx 1080, I only have a 1070 ) On the Quest 2 you are not locked to Oculus ecosystem when using Link to a PC, eg can load up steam. I love the way I can take the headset with me to another room or location and put it on and after a quick boundary set (literally 10 seconds) I am ready to go. But if you only ever want to play PC games, and have a powerful PC, maybe it isn't the best?

Well that is the issue for me: I do only ever really play PC games on my rift, but the rift is also so cumbersome, what with it being reliant on external sensors and a rather thick wire, that it's impractical to do much else. I'd probably play Superhot VR more if I didn't run the risk of property or physical damage.
