Nope no PC. Have a ps5 but it’s in the geekcave (converted half garage) with no room for VR (and as you say wired). So conflicted, not happy that there’s no back compat with ps vr1 games on the VR2 as well. My lad has really got his eyes on beat saber and among us VR. I know I’m still paying for it, but £8 a month seems pennies to dip our toes as opposed to £530 plus games for the VR2. And let’s face it, if it’s the dogs bollocks il find the money anyway!! I have always found plenty to do without needing a PC, on the Quest2. I can't personally do long sessions in VR so it doesn't get huge usage. But man, untethered VR is just awesome. I had a Oculus Rift a while back and just always had problems with detection. Missing out on Alyx and the Echo games is a bummer tho.

Is there a full list of games available on the Quest? A mate has bought his kids one for Christmas and got a bit spooked when I suggested that a PC elevated the games available etc.

Plus the PC modding scene is great with RE8, RE7 and RE2/3 remakes and Alien Isolation, Half Life 2 and lots more and with the VR injector mod coming any unreal engine game like Jedi Fallen Order will be playable in VR and can be played with a gamepad but any modders can use the injector mod to add motion controls as well. Great times ahead for pc VR games

Ended up getting a Quest 2 and couple of days and not regretting at all.
Still getting my VR legs but loving the Walkabout mini golf, Pistol Whip and Beat Saber.
Felt a bit queasy on RE4, so need to get more comfortable with movement.
Watching the kids play the first steps app was joyous.

Just back from Zero Latency VR in Nottingham.
30 minute game felt like 5 mins to be honest. My first real VR experience so perhaps will spoil me if I go for a PSVR2.
6 players in a large open room environment shootin zombies. Was a great time, worked up quite a sweat but would have preferred a longer game.

Cool, Vive headsets with backpacks I presume?

Cool, Vive headsets with backpacks I presume? Think they were HP branded but yeah, backpacks and comms between the 6 of us. Was a bit frantic in places. At one point had to make my way up a ramp (think a couple of planks wide) on the outside of a skyscraper. That was an interesting first taste of verticality! Sure, the game was pretty simplistic but very enjoyable.

I think those would be HP reverbs. Sounds pretty cool tbh, so did you feel confident to move fast and run around? I’d be kind of paranoid about running into things, but that’s probably from playing at home and knowing that my boundaries are like 5 inches from the walls.

There are proximity warnings when any player gets too close to the walls and players - to the point where the game pauses for all players until safe distance is resumed.
Strictly no running as you'd likely beat the warning reaction time and knock yourself out!
Still, there was enough action that you didn't need to run to find it. Plenty of walking and spinning around and checking the entry points.
Seems they have an UBI tie-in as there is a Far Cry VR game - so I'm not sure how that open world look will be handled. Looked like an Assasin Creed Oddysey was being touted soon too.
£30 for 30 mins was quite steep, so likely be a while before I try it again, but I'd definitely go again.

I finally got my new video card yesterday. Played HL Alyx for the first time on the Quest 2 over Air link.
Incredible so far. A head crab had me shrieking.
The only issue is that the Quest 2 is so uncomfortable for sessions over 40 mins. Also not sure if my aim is a bit crap or the guns are slightly more realistic in Alyx.

Thinking about grabbing an Index, but also have that uncomfortable feeling that something new may be around the corner, even though Valve are pretty transparent about things like that. I have a OG Quest and while it’s ok, it’s uncomfortable for long sessions and the 2 hasn’t fixed that.

I still have my Dell WMR, I can borrow a Quest 2 but similar thing where it just doesnt fit my head well.
I'm hanging back and praying for PSVR 2 pc drivers, by the time that dream is dead hopefully someone puts out a comfy one for me.

I bit the bullet and ordered. Still seems to be best in class for comfort, field of view and refresh, and as 95% of its usage is going to be on Flight or Truck Sim, those are more important to me than resolution or inside out tracking. And if something better gets announced in the next couple of months, oh well.

I’ve had the Index since launch, still gets used every week, mainly for flight sim, although I just finished The Room VR, which I can recommend. But you absolutely need to get hl:Alyx eventually. Don’t start out with it though, it’s still the best thing in VR imo. The Lab is a good free starting point.

Yeah, I’ve rinsed Alyx. I used Quest Link frequently for PCVR but it’s just time to move on to something better and one that doesn’t make my entire skull ache after 30 minutes.

I picked up an Index at the start of the year, and use it pretty much every week. Can second that Alyx is awesome, and still probably the high watermark of a good VR game, though I've also spent way more time than I should in Skyrim VR (albeit with a *lot* of mods that add the stuff that should have been in the base game, so standard Skyrim really).
Only thing I find frustrating is seeing a cool looking VR game on the horizon, and then finding out that it's Quest exclusive. There is, fortunately, a good modding community that is adding VR capabilities to other games. The Outer Wilds VR mod in particular is truly excellent.

Index arrived today. Probably goes without saying but it’s such an upgrade over the Quest with link. Only issue so far is my Flight Sim performance tanks, but I think that’s because I need to set an FPS limit.

There is a PC VR mod for Far Cry 3 on the way. This mod is being made because of the sex scene, isn't it? Thinking about grabbing an Index, but also have that uncomfortable feeling that something new may be around the corner, even though Valve are pretty transparent about things like that. It is looking likely that Valve will do a successor to the Index at some point, but I wouldn't worry about it being any time soon. They have filed a few relevant patents, so something is definitely being worked on, but with no official word I expect it will be quite a wait, if they ever do actually release something. Even if it is fairly soon, I expect your Index will retain a good amount of its value for some time, so upgrading wouldn't be that expensive. Maybe I should think about upgrading my Vive to an Index. Anyone done that move and felt it was a worthwhile upgrade? On paper, it always felt like not much of one, but does seem that the Index is still the best you can get. Already have the Index controllers and the base stations from my Vive, so I would only need to buy the headset, which is surprisingly not that expensive, when compared to the price of the full kit.

Index arrived today. Probably goes without saying but it’s such an upgrade over the Quest with link. Only issue so far is my Flight Sim performance tanks, but I think that’s because I need to set an FPS limit. Flight Sim is hard to get right because it’s still very much cpu limited. Framerate also depends on where you are flying, and what you are flying. Airliners are tough because of all the systems they have to simulate in the background, plus there you want the clarity to read all the gauges and screens. Basically the consensus is that you want to get 40-45fps and put the Index in 80 or 90hz mode. I’m running render scaling at 100, no anti-aliasing, but I’m pushing render resolution per eye in the SteamVR settings at 130%. Terrain level of detail has a huge impact, but also stuff like like the online traffic. Just a warning, it’s impossible to get it right even on a maxed out system, and there’s a million settings to play with, so I’d recommend just flying once it’s running okayish, because I’ve lost more than a couple evenings trying to get it perfect.

I had it working pretty well on Quest with Link, but I discovered it was because I was in DX12 mode. Back to DX11, now it’s like butter.

Thread bump amidst all of the PSVR2 excitement.
Despite having full on new shiny syndrome I haven’t felt compelled to pick it up yet and am still fully enjoying my Quest 2.
Anyone else made the jump and bought into psvr2? Opinions?
I can’t get enough of Golf+, Paradiddle and Light Brigade at the moment.

I have a ps5, and obviously the new PS VR appeals, but for some reason I'm more interested in picking up a quest 2.
I have young kids with limited game time, and my wife has started playing Hogwarts Legacy on the ps5 which limits access to that.
So the Quest seems to me like the best option, as it's standalone and can be used when the PS5 is occupied. I've also read that you can stream more demanding games to the Quest2 with a subscription service, if you don't have a PC capable of playing them. Has anyone tried this, as I've heard so much about HL Alyx that I'd love to try it.
I hear there's a new Quest coming this autumn probably so would be waiting for that one rather than the quest 2

I’d also look at the Pico 4 if I was you. Has anyone tried both the Index and the Reverb G2? The relative lower res of the Index is starting to bug me, and most of the flight simmers on YouTube recommended the G2. Around £500 for basically the same headset but higher res makes it questionable though. Combining Index controllers with a WMR headset also sounds like a minefield.

£499ish for the Quest 3 apparently.
I use my Quest 2 virtually every day for Sim racing and hardly anything else TBH, so it will be a day one purchase for me, depending on reviews and the grumbling from the racing community.
Hopefully they don't go all in on the mixed reality stuff to the detriment of my current normal link use.
Just want a clearer picture without having to upgrade my hardware other than the headset, that will do me.

There are quite a few nice sounding games there. Now I just need to hear confirmation these are going to be available on something that doesn't have Zuckerberg's grubby hands all over it. Valve undercutting the Quest 3 announcement with an Index 2 announcement would be nice too.

My son regular asks for stuff on the Quest2 and I give them a cursory review to make sure appropriate and then let him at it but I don't really play on it much.
Well after a bit of beat sabre which is usually all I've ever done I put some game called Swarm on. It's an arena shooter over the ocean with lots of platforms and you grapple swing around while shooting bots and collecting things. Fuck my life I thought I was going to throw up. It is so disorientating constantly having to look in a full 360 orbit depending on which way your swinging and the enemies.
It's so much fun though and eventually I was spinning around the platforms building up momentum to catapult me up high so I could sail over the enemy shield and shoot them from behind as I was falling down the other side only to grapple and swing under the explosion.
Highly recommended!!
