Nice to hear Links Recht getting a play over the pa after the Women’s 4x400. I listened to that a lot during the Euros

Taekwondo would be more interesting if there was no padding.

So, apparently taekwondo rules are: U.K. are in with a chance of winning until the last seconds, then we lose.
I think that rule needs looking at.

It's bizarre how few of the hits were getting registered in all the matches I saw.

Is artistic swimming a rebrand for synchronised swimming?

Poor Michael Johnson having to talk about our shit guys while desperately wanting to enjoy all the us golds.

I honestly can't believe our luck having Michael Johnson on the British coverage. It's never really made sense to me. Probably the best athlete of his generation and he's notably modest, articulate and measured in his analysis. Very different from the stereotype self obsessed egomaniacs the US usually produce.
Why don't the US broadcasters want him? I've always thought it weird that he's sat alongside Gabby Logan and co for the biggest nights in his sport.

I think you answered your own question, he's not your typical American broadcaster and he probably prefers the approach of the BBC.

I dunno. I've never watched US athletics coverage but I've watched a lot of their coverage of other sports and I don't see an issue there. They also have in depth analysis and debate. It's not like it's Fox News across the board

It's like seeing a retired Tiger Woods spend every Masters with the UK commentary team.

Can't believe Denise Lewis is 51! Seeing that BBC montage of her career she looks like she has aged zero years from Sydney to now!

It's not like it's Fox News across the board I don't know if they have improved recently but NBC has historically been pretty poor in terms of punditry.

Johnson himself has said that US coverage of athletics is basically national trials and Olympics. No one bothers watching anything else.
So in the long run, he probably gets more work over here than from US networks

He gets the Commonwealth Games as well with the BBC so he certainly gets more to do.

This artistic swimming is insane. Terrific performance! If I was a dolphin I would definitely be floating upside down clapping my fins . As it was internally I was delighted for them as they rocked it 🤘😎👍

Steph Curry is just ridiculous. I had a bet on that had x amount of points and assists for curry, James and durrant. James was 1 point under so I didn’t win £200. At the end 2 of curry’s 3s James was completely open to pass to. I now hate curry

Steph Curry is just ridiculous. He's lethal. As an aside, the coverage of the basketball on the Irish national broadcaster has the most annoying commentator since speaking and sports were invented

I don't get basketball at all.It feels very 'attack, score, other end attack, score, rinse and repeat' for entirely too long for anyone to pay much attention. Just can't get invested or interested.

That’s why I think Gary Lineker’s description of the difference between football and other big ball sports holds so much water - in football the value of a goal is so high that there is more potential drama and upset than in any other. All it takes is one goal, one mistake, one moment of skill and any team could beat another. If its a 100 point game then the better team will always win because they’ll just rack up the points with every attack.

I think the length of the court is the biggest issue, I'm a rugby fanatic and big scores get racked up, but you have to earn the territory to score
