Can't argue with a PB. What went wrong earlier in the day? KJT? Javelin fucked her. In terms of things she could've done differently wasn't it more a case of being 0.5m off her best long jump and 0.7s off her best 200m? Not that I'm saying it was easy by any means but she could've won gold had she nailed one more event to the best of her ability. |

That was funny. You could tell they all felt like right knobs when the realisation dropped. Shame I missed the erm…event though.
Currently watching people going for a jog round a beach whilst periodically stopping to play laser quest. There’s certainly some odd stuff about.

trampolining's just bouncing innit? and seven year old me travelled everywhere by forward roll so that's my gymnastics floor routine sorted. pommel horse is just spinning around and a handstand. *obviously* b-girl raygun has inspired us all to bust out our sick breaking moves, so I'd do that as well, tho I don't think it's in LA, anyone know what the demo sports are next time? could start practicing now for olympic suitcase packing or something

I reckon Boulder & Lead Climbing could be doable if you were already reasonably fit.
Its more about technique rather than power so it could be coachable given enough time.
Not saying I could do it, I’m a mediocre boulderer at best, but its one of the sports I could see it being one of the more plausible physical sports.

I'd love the average joe try serious swim training, even just for a week. My 12y (who recently swam at Eng Nationals) has 8 training sessions a week at 2 hours a day. Been doing that for over a year.

I'd have a crack at the BMX. Not to do tricks or anything - if I wanted to break every bone in my body, I could probably come up with an easier method - but riding around in circles, doing the odd bunny hop, should be achievable.
Maybe I'd try (and fail) to do an endo as my big finish.
I doubt I'd reach the podium, but perhaps I'd go viral as a lovable loser; more realistically, I'd limp off the track with, "Who's the douchebag on the bike?" ringing loudly in my ears.

Rugby Sevens be my best (very slim) chance, played quite a bit of 15's and 7's for county level. Does League of Legends count for olympic esports yet? perhaps this forums best chance.

Checked out the ladies breakdance final. It was a lot more boring than I expected it to be. It'd have helped if they had some catchy music, and played it at a decent volume, rather than just some repetitive beat in the background. We also had no idea how the scoring worked and why one won over the other. Go Japan!
The breakdancing on The Next Step on CBBC was a lot more fun, but they had decent tunes.

Impressive bronze for Noah Williams in the 10m diving. Another good competition that works really well for the spectators. China won gold, Japan silver but he put some awesome dives in.
