Triple jump is a very odd idea.

Boo. KJT was one of the two golds that I really wanted to win.

Triple jump is a very odd idea. Never understood it when I had to do it at school in the eighties, still don't understand it.
No one was ever jumped like that anywhere outside of athletics.

Gutted for KJT but when they said 8 seconds gap needed, it seemed likely insurmountable. Great effort though. I couldn’t run 50 yards in that time

This Olympics has been abysmal for the lack of on screen results and times in the athletics

Can't argue with a PB. What went wrong earlier in the day?

The time required would pretty much needed Thiam to have pulled up or fallen over.

Dougs - I think Thiam is just that little bit stronger across the board, except maybe for the running events. KJT had a great high jump and a solid javelin, but Thiam is just better. I think the TV tries to add a bit of tension, but there’s no way Thiam loses an 800 by 9 seconds

While I have enjoyed all three events it is quite funny that the way the IOC are trying to appeal to young people is by including skateboarding, BMX and breakdancing.
Poochie as LA28 mascot?

I think it's also because viewership is constantly falling and you need to appeal to things that perhaps young people connect with. Especially in this age.

It's 2044 and I'm swelling with pride as my grandson takes gold in skibidi toilet.

Yeah the time needed for KJT was 8.something, and she actually managed 6 ish plus a personal best. The points difference at the end was marginal.
I’m not an avid watcher of all this stuff, have mainly been catching bits in the afternoon, but this one did catch my imagination a bit.
I think she will be 35 or 36 at the next one so likely her last roll of the dice I expect.
Has anybody done the bronze podium meme yet?

Watching this Olympics it's incredible how many people are very forthcoming about their mental health struggles like even mentioning being close to suicide in one interview. I guess you forget that it's people who have pushed themselves and dedicated themselves to so many years of their lives to one thing.

I saw the B-Boy finals at Brixton about 10 years back and sure, it was mostly a party, but it was still fun on the stage. Not sure what they're judging in this.
