Why do people keep saying something that they did is out of character when they were obviously showing their character? Just fucking own your cuntishness.

Come on Jambo, she was just unlucky that the only time she flogged a horse in her whole entire life that it was being filmed

Would genuinely ban all horse sports, the poor things are abused from birth. I don't even like horses very much but there's no way I could batter one with a whip to make it break its legs going over a hedge to get shot. Absolute bastards.

I just got back from Paris. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a bit of light rioting.
They were starting to barricade everything off while we were there and finally locked everything down the day we left and the locals are absolutely fummin.
You can’t get near the Seine, huge swathes of the streets have been barricaded, locals can’t get to where they want to go, tourists can’t get around because their map routes don’t work and loads of businesses who thought they would be getting a pay day are now basically barricaded inside a no man’s land. Everyone on the news was like ‘who asked for this, this is bullshit’.
I’m not a big fan of the Olympics PLC anyway but seeing how it’s disrupted an entire city first hand makes it seem even more gross.

That's hopefully only for the opening ceremony which the French being outlandish weirdos decided to do along the Seine instead of isolated in a stadium.

It’s now completely packed with stadium seating to watch the rowing and TV studios. The Batobus is closing for a few weeks which is pretty much a war crime.

Parisians love it, they’ve had nothing to moan about for a fortnight. They’ll be ecstatic when they see an upturned police car set ablaze for the opening ceremony

I heard earlier about Argentina's equaliser in the 90 + 16th minute, which was absolutely bonkers.
Carried on with my day at that point, not realising that wasn't the end of it... Football is fucked.

I get the impression she was clumsily trying to make the point that the rapist had been through the justice system, therefore he's been punished for his crimes. Haven't heard the interview recording, but from reading the article it seems she had a brainfart in wishing him "good luck" in the future for which she is now face-palming.

Yeah, I think she meant it in a ‘if someone has paid their dues and turned their life around then best of luck to them’ kind of way which isn’t necessarily the worst sentiment but it feels like the road back from ‘child rapist’ should be a bit longer.
And filled with landmines.

Certain crimes should disqualify you from certain professions i.e. child rapist being an Olympian
Not saying the guy should never have a job again but fucking hell, what kind of message does it send?

It’s not even a ‘she told me she was 18, officer’ thing. He knew how old she was and flew to another entire country to do it. It’s the kind of premeditation that should prevent him from being near schools for the rest of his natural life.

Certain crimes should disqualify you from certain professions i.e. child rapist being an Olympian Not saying the guy should never have a job again but fucking hell, what kind of message does it send? What sort of jobs should he be allowed to have though? Outside of working with vulnerable people or anything were he is working with children, I'm not sure there should be restrictions if the employer (or whoever is picking Olympians to compete at the games to represent their country) is happy and has full knowledge of his past. He has gone through the justice system and been deemed safe to re-enter society. Not that I'm not surprised that he actually passed the selection process and you would think those making that decision would have thought twice about it, but I don't think there should be some official disqualification for it. You also start getting into icky territory about deciding what crosses the line and what doesn't (child rape no, but murder is ok). You also have age of consent differing greatly between countries. So this guy can't compete, but someone else in a country were it is legal would be fine (hope there aren't many where it would be legal with a 12 year old!)
