The commentators on the BMX are clearly enjoying themselves.

Superb men’s race but obvs feel for the injured Brit. He probably heard the crowd from the hospital waiting room

I’m still dubious about the move from one of the French riders. Replay will be interesting.

Great shame she deserved better but that’s the nature of a final!

Would like to see them use the semi final format and have a points tally over three races. One race in a final where it can be won or lost on the smallest of details. It’s basically over before it’s starts. It is what it is though
Watching the 10k final and it’s the first time I really appreciated how fast they are running. Like 24kmph ? Watching them go for it in the last few laps.. legs hurt watching it.

-some bellend
It's really weird that no one seem to bring up that she was beaten pretty squarely in Japan and no one raised an eyebrow. I can't imagine what the difference is? It's a mystery.

People are fucking shocking at statistics. Elite athletes are basically all freaks well outside a couple standard deviations of the mean. People vary a lot. Any set you draw around some group of them always has fuzzy edges because nature doesn't respect human's instincts to put everything into diametrically opposed classes.
Plus people are fucking bellends.
Also actually Olympics related. Is air rifles new? Why do they all look teenagers who spent their money on counter strike skins that you'd rather yeet into the sea than talk to?
And why are they all doing weird poses and holding the guns fucking weird...

I think even the guys coming in last where about half an hour faster than my 10k pb. Great sprint finish too, that American must be gutted about the guy who steamed through into 2nd at the very end. Road cycling today. Will my son let me watch it? No. But still one of the events I’ve been looking forward to.

Can’t help but think that in between rounds; pumping hardcore beats and venue commentators banging on incessantly, doesn’t suit archery

Britain's women get the bronze in the Women's Eight and now the men get the gold, good end to the rowing regatta!

The British team have been excellent this Olympics, always the lowest stroke rate but it totally works.

-some bellend It's really weird that no one seem to bring up that she was beaten pretty squarely in Japan and no one raised an eyebrow. I can't imagine what the difference is? It's a mystery. Sharon Davies has form on a number of levels. She's lucky she has such a weak public profile given the treatment Lineker has received for not 'sticking to football' and he's been an advocate for kindness and progressiveness not hate. Thing is, I do think this is an important conversation because biological women deserve a chance to compete on a level playing field. Only using how athletes self identify is not enough for fair gender separated sport. The way the IOC has basically not engaged or reassured has created suspicion which helps noone. Given what's at stake I can understand women (especially athletes like Sharon, who was robbed of her moment by cheating of a different form) feeling very frustrated at the perceived inaction. They're going after the wrong target though. The debate needs kindness and empathy and Sharon Davies is capable of neither.

The IOC were unequivocal in saying she's a female competitor.
