Played some of the second world now and take back my previous comment about lack of originality. The mouse level and the tree level are really great. Somehow the mouse level mechanic is never used again. Personally I think it was the highlight of the game and they used several of the other powerups again* *I haven't done all the secret galaxy yet so it's possible there is one more use of it

Just went through it a couple of extra times to find one last thing and I reckon you could do the level in 30 seconds without trying too hard. There's virtually zero peril.

Did all bots and puzzle pieces, got to the challenge level but will leave it for another day.
Overall a very strong package. Really enjoyable.

Yeah, that boss was cool. I did think the idea was a bit topsy-turvy though, as the hardest part was the first egg and then it got easier with each one.

I'm talking about the three eggs on top of each other that shoot out purple flame/vomit and you use your honey platforms to jump up.

Ummmm I got myself in a bit of a tizzy and it took rather more attempts than I would care to admit to. Most end of level bosses I do first time, or with a single failure.

I just did the God of War level. I liked it more than God of War! Annoyingly I missed a raven.

Just completed the final, master stage and it's not too bad - maybe 1/2 an hour of attempts to get through and I enjoyed the gradual progress. I absolutely flew through it in the end too - I'm surprised they don't have time leaderboards on the challenge stages.
And I did find the final bot to be one of my faves and very appropriate. One of only a handful I cared about.

It was a nice level of challenge I have to say, probably took me a similar amount of time overall.

I thought Splashing Sprint was proper bullshit. The last level is also on the same lines of proper bullshit. Sure learn the pattern. Go fast. BUT I’M SHIT AT GAMES.

I spammed Splashing Sprint as I realised that the enemies who fire missiles at you don't recognise you until they are on your screen. So I kept the camera almost set to be top-down and that helped immensely to get started.
That last one was frustrating as well. I know they added challenge to an otherwise easy game, but they did feel a little out of kilter with the rest of it.

One thing I found that has helped is turning the music off. I’m having better success than when I first tried them.

I just did the Dude Raider level - it's my new favourite. I missed one of the golden eggs though.

It will be the same one that I missed first time around. It's well hidden and bleeding obvious at the same time.

I'm finalising the serpent/snake galaxy and those single bot levels can be pretty tricky. Which I think echoes what others have said...
They are frustrating and fun in equal measure. I can see what I need to do/where I need to go, but my old man reaction times and tendency to get flustered lead me to say 'Fuck!' all too often!

So is this game notably harder than the free one?

So is this game notably harder than the free one? 95% of it is an absolute walk in the park. The remaining 5% is tougher but not crazy.

Been loving this so far, taking our time with it and going back to mop up levels where we missed something before progressing to far.
Despite having owned every generation of PS (and the handhelds) it's surprising how many of the characters I don't recognise, but it's so full of charm and there's been plenty of great moments with some excellent level design and inventive powers.
Had a few issues where it's felt like I have performed a perfect jump, but land somewhere unexpected, as if my depth perception is off - but they have been few and far between.
Really hoping the DLC brings leaderboards for speed runs as that will really add longevity (if there is a way to create invite only groups it would be even better).

So is this game notably harder than the free one? The 'regular' levels are much the same. For the completionist there are then mini-levels with a single bot and usually no midway save point that are actually testing. Some, of course, are a lot easier than others, but they generally require faster reactions and for you to memorise what's coming. i.e. they are more like 'old skool' games. Depends if you want the trophies for rescuing all bots.
