I’m working away from home at the moment, so can’t update until tomorrow night! Hopefully this is it and it works. If not, I’m just gonna start over and speed run the thing. It’s good enough to warrant it.

The patch works! The parrot reappears and I get my reward, which is the locations of a number of treasure chests I’ve already found. Huzzah!
But wait. Turns out I’m still missing one collectible document somewhere around that area. 99.85% complete. D’oh!

It is done! Finally! Who thought a game like this could be so tricky!
Turns out I didn’t buy all the amulets from the man in the sewers. Probably because they weren’t very good.
Phew…
Who thought one little bug could create so much drama? It might have been quicker just to replay the whole game! Still, a great, great game that I’m glad I bought. I’ll likely replay it the near future. Especially if it comes to Gamepass. If not, it’ll be a case of giving it another run when the Switch 2 comes about.

So.... what did you get for 100%ing it? No Metroidvania is completed until you get 100%. Credits mean nothing! Nothing!

Dave help me out - what is the collectible on the top left hand corner of each map area? I thought it was crystals but it isn’t. Can you explain what I actually need to collect to build that score on top left hand corner (of the 4 different collectible types)?

Those are meant to be ‘treasures’, or treasure chests. Half of which are hidden behind breakable walls or behind late game obstacles.
The crystals don’t count towards your percentage on their own, but you do need to purchase and upgrade all Amulets, so it’s worth collecting all the crystals you can. (I chose to fight every enemy I ever saw).

Absolutely worth it at that point. A very generous game, content-wise and it’s high quality throughout!

Yeah that was the magic number for me last night. Loved the demo. Was dallying on which format to buy it for. Sale decided it for me.

Picked this up in the sale as well, gotta say I'm not enjoying it as much as I expected given the demo. I've just got to the bit where the old geezer steals your map and it's just an awful, awful bit of design IMO, I'm pretty close to giving up because of how bad this section is.

Were you using the map a lot? I found I barely used it until I needed to double back to specific areas. I think all you need to do is keep heading down. You’re not without it for very long. The next area was a lot of fun, too. Kinda has a horror vibe to it.

Hated that bit but persevered with it. Glad I did. Still not completed it but really enjoying what I've done so far.

Aha, I've just discovered the custom difficulty sliders. Environmental damage down to almost nothing and I've finally got through it.

I've just done that bit. Those that have completed it, is that around the halfway point of the game? Still have loads left to explore and don't want it to end.

What's the violence/gore like in this one? I think my 12 year old would love it, but it's a 16 and I usually only let him play anything above his age rating if I have already played it through myself. I thought the Spiderman games were fine if on the edge - violent at times but nothing too graphic.

The next area was a lot of fun, too. Kinda has a horror vibe to it. I was, but it's not really the map being taken away that was the problem. There were lots of different pathways, most of which didn't go anywhere but had lots of poison areas, tricky enemies and stupid wheel traps that kept grinding my health down until I died and had to repeat it all. Without the map I couldn't see if there were any trees nearby either and ended up having to go back a fair way. If they'd made it easier to track the guy it would have been much less frustrating.

Interestingly I l loved that bit and found it straightforward. He keeps appearing just ahead of you, so all you really need to do is follow.
The equivalent bit in Hollow Knight (basically all the game) was worse 😂

That wasn't my experience, he'd appear ahead of you and run onto the next screen, then I'd follow and there would be a bunch of paths and it wasn't clear which one to go down, and all the traps and slidey one-way paths made making the wrong choice a chore. Anyway, it's done now and I've lowered the difficulty so I reckon I'll enjoy it more with less punishment for being rubbish

I just didn't hate it. There was definitely a "fucking hell, I hope it doesn't go on *too* long" aspect when I realised what was going on but I was basically chill. GIT GUD! etc.

As an aside: CHUFFING LOVING THE GAME. It was exactly what I hoped it would be. It just keeps expanding out more and more. I'd have wished for more interconnectedness, but you can't have it all.
None of the bosses have outstayed their welcome (although spawning adds can do one) and I've enjoyed finding the corners of the map with platforming puzzles to reach some random collectible or other.
Always excited to get back to it of an evening, which is usually a good sign.

Yeah, it’s such a good game. A shame it hasn’t sold insane numbers. It’s the kind of game you want Ubisoft to make more of, not less.
