The Challenge is legitimately good. It started off as the old Real World MTV show doing beach games to win shitty prizes and has morphed over the last couple of decades into basically ultramarathon competitions with eliminations.

Finished season one of The Traitors Australia and it really is good, certainly on par with the UK version and some far better tactics on display from both sides.
The Australian version of the crossbow task was a damn sight better than the Mickey Mouse one we got in Scotland too.

Apparently the series 2 finale did more than double the viewing figures of series 1 - 6.9m to 3.1 - outside of football there can’t be much broadcast tv hitting that sort of number in the uk anymore.

I think the hype and build for S3 is going to be off the charts.
I wonder if we'll get S3 a little earlier than January - when I did the application it said filming is in Spring/Summer 2024 whereas the last season was filmed in September 2023.

I think moving up the shooting could also help with the weather, there was a storm going on the final day so that's why they had to do the final in the roundtable room.

Started Australia Season 2 - episodes 1 and 2 I thought the celebrities would fuck things up but its more the desperate wannabes like Annabel who are the most annoying. Celebs do skew the social dynamic and power balance a bit heavily though, hopefully they’ll settle into just playing the game like the first American season did eventually.
Loved that after episode one was such a clown show that episode 2 kicks off with undercover cop, FBI agent and counter-terrorist bomb disposal operative.
My main memory of the first season was that there were a lot of serious people in there so it was a big relief to see some in this game too. |

Australia - Season 2 Spoiler Free Review
I struggled to get through the first episode as the casting (which is mostly regular people but some people from reality TV and other known fields) some of them are incredibly over the top and I'd have considered murdering them for real at times let alone in the game. However as things progress and one person in particular changed my mind completely when its clear that they're not as stupid as they first appeared it gets better.
So is it worth watching, after about halfway when a couple of people are gone I'd have probably said no but I kept going and I will say stick with it. The lows are very, very, very, very low and in comparison to how good the Faithful were in Aus S1 this lot are mostly as dense as material from a neutron star. However don't stop.
It doesn't help that not only are the Faithful utterly stupid they are matched in awfulness by how narcissistic one of the Traitors is. The person is such an utter cunt I'm surprised he didn't get defenestrated in Traitor Tower by one of the other Traitors. You could easily see the frustration of how the game was being played on Rodger's face at times, he had to keep reminding them what they were supposed to be doing in finding the Traitors and constantly failing.
One other complaint, far too little of Simone in her wrestling gear...
Clearly this season was influenced by the UK version (possibly it's the same with the US but it's been a while since I watched S1 of that), it's only 20 players this time, not 24, 3 Traitors not 4 and instead of the little dining room name cards there's pictures of the departed that get red Xed too.
A very frustrating watch at times, you'll probably be screaming at the TV with one Faithful in particular. Plus Australian law enforcement? Oh boy.

The finger guns was such a prick move from Sam, he may as well have tattooed "I'm an arsehole" on his forehead when he did that. When Annabel came down in what looked like her pyjamas to breakfast I honestly though I want to see the back of her as soon as possible, absolutely loved her when she started playing. |
