Morning Ratfans and happy 2024 (well it is/will be somewhere)
I finished 2023 on 35 game completions and 4 dlc completions. At time of starting this thread Humperfunk and malak86 are joint "winners" with 37 games beat, well done both.
I'm currently on chapter 11 of Mafia 2 remake, so would think that will be my first completion sometime next week.

Things have been hard this year, frankly I'm surprised I even found the time for 37 games. Then again, I don't really play big open worlders anymore. I also nearly stopped playing Destiny at all in the last 6 months, so that gave me more time for other games.
Right now I'm playing Boltgun and American Arcadia, and also started Operation Raccoon City. I'm guessing American Arcadia will be the shorter of the three, so that should be my next completion, unless something else comes around and steals my attention (I've also started Cursed to Golf, but it's very rare for me to get to the end of a roguelike so I'll probably lose interest soon).

I've been playing lots of bigger titles, so not even close this year. Giving up on Destiny 2 (and Diablo 4) has definitely helped my completion rate, though. If I do come back to D2, it'll only be to see the story through. Got Mario RPG on the go at the moment, so should at least start off the year with a short-ish title. Persona 3 reloaded will soon put a stop to that, though.

Absolutely love that I completed 37. No matter what I do or what games I play, I always finish between 36 and 38 games played!
This year I think will be significantly slower as work is busier, got exams I have to take and a four month old so if I hit 10 I'll be happy!

1:Mafia II definitive ed ps5/ps+ beat on 04/01/24 9/10
Up and running now. As excellent now as it was back on release. TBF the "definitive" tag does not add a great deal from what I remember albeit we get some Mafia 3 stuff. A great story game and wonderful world especially in the snow. Shame it did not have more interaction with the world and maybe a few side missions but it is a narrative driven game 100% so doesn't mess from that formula too much. I'm unsure if I will play dlc as I remember is being very "arcadie"

Let's begin.
01. 06/01 - American Arcadia (PC) - 8/10
An orwellian platformer to enjoy mostly for the story.

With subscription services, I've wondered in recent years exactly how many games I plough through. So let's find out. Hopefully I'll get at least 20.
01. 05/01 - Dave the Diver (PC) - 8/10
Lovely game that throws a load of varied gameplay at you. Was ready to adore this but didn't quite live up to my very high hopes.

This one was close to the end too. An enjoyable boomer shooter for sure.
A strong start to the year so far. We'll see if the next games keep the trend going (seems unlikely, as one of them could be Operation Raccoon City, unless I drop it first).

And we're off!
#1 - 12/01 - Resident Evil 4 (PS5)
Have owned probably all PS releases of Resi 4 but never completed it due to being too scared. But after completing Alan Wake 2, I thought fuck it let's try again!
Really enjoyed it, was tempted to do New Game Plus but with time so limited I've decided to call it, I beat the game so that's enough for me.
Need to finish Resi 1 and then I can say I've done 0 to 6 which is decent enough. Will never do 7, that's definitely too far for me!
Next up, will try to start and finish Metal Gear Solid 3 before Apollo Justice is out in two weeks. Certainly want it done before Suicide Squad and Persona 3!

The thing with RE7 is that imo the teaser demo was a lot creepier than the full game. I didn't find it very scary at all.

Almost finished with my Hard playthrough of Boltgun, and tempted to raise the score to 9. Depending on how annoying the final boss will be.
I'm amazed, it's rare to find a game where most elements are merely average-to-good, but the shooting and movement are just top notch enough to bury almost every other issue I might have with it.

2:New Tales from the Borderlands: (Xbox) beat on 16/01/24. 4/10
Overall very poor and far too ponderous, much preferred the first game. The 4 points are for a couple of the characters

Bloody good fun, really enjoyed it. Might look at the extra stuff.
Really deep into MGS3, would love to finish that this weekend and then replay The Last of Us Part II

01. Powerwash Simulator: DLC 2 (Series X) 4/5
I’m on the board! Not with the game I’ve spent the most of January playing, but some lovely Back to the Future DLC that gave me the opportunity to catch up with a load of podcasts. It’s as chill as the rest of the game, but perhaps not as interesting as the SpongeBob DLC was.
I’m closing in on 30 hours with The Fracured But Whole on Series X, which has been great fun for all kinds of reasons. Not sure how big a game it is. I assumed I’d have finished it ages ago, but it just keeps on giving. Good stuff.
I’m also dipping in and out of Railbound on Switch, which has been a cruise for the most part. A nice wind down before bed kind of game. Hopefully I can add both of these to the list before the month is out as I really want to get Prince of Persia!

Excellent (for the most part) I did struggle a bit on figuring out a puzzle or two but that is on me no doubt. Wonderful immersive and atmospheric game, reminded me a great deal of EgttR (which if you read my posts, know I love this game) this was done to the isolation and finding snippets of ncp's while dealing with...

One of my all time favourite series and great to polish off 3 in about a week. Got all trophies except the top rank on the hardest difficulty and two collectible ones the game fucked me out of.
Definitely my least favourite of 1, 2 and 3 but still lightyears better than most games.
Now for a replay of The Last of Us Part II.

I get why this is not everyone's bag, but given I loved the stylings and general weirdness of Control, and I'm not averse to a walking sim, I thought this was great.

I don't know, doesn't this come down more to what is, how long it is and so on?
For instance, I played Minerva's Den years after Bioshock 2 and so I would have treated it as something separate.
By the way, what about replays or multiple playthroughs of something?

Yeah, we've allowed stuff like Destiny expansions in here. I think it should be allowed if it's a meaty bit of content.

Morning Toomuch' Maybe a separate section in your lists i.e 1: suchandshuch game. beat on 15/01/24 DLC completion: MD. beat on 24/01/24 2: suchandsuchgame. beat on 24/01/24 I am only playing of course you/formites record how they want. You are right, it is easier when you complete the dlc directly after a game of course as I did with Alan Wake last year: 16: Alan wake remastered (ps5) beat on 23/07/23 5/10 (revised to 4/10) 16.1: Alan Wake: The writer dlc 4/10 16.2: Alan wake: The Signal dlc 3/10

I've already beaten all episodes of Doom and Quake as well as RE4 Separate Ways (3 times) and Dead Space, which brings me to 12 completions. Looking good for me this year

You rebel!
I do like the decimals for DLC, but I completed Powerwash about 2 years ago now, so that doesn’t work all too well in this example.

A lot of positive sentiment about this game so a quick one for the stats. Way more basic than I expected with the entire game being fetch quests in 1 location. Still, a few funny lines, and it doesn't outstay it's welcome.
(Playing as part of the trilogy so maybe a questionable inclusion...)
