PS+GP 5/7 Interstingly, I thought BtS was pretty poor but enjoyed 2 a lot more. Haven't tried True Colours yet though... I still haven't completed anything this year, decent progress through God of War Ragnarok Like a Dragon:Infinite Wealth and Death Mark II though.

Loved it, took around 15 hours to complete (15-20 hours, perfect sp narrative driven game time) even with playing on several consoles I seem to have forgotten so much, this is due to age and playing hundreds of games no doubt! It looks wonderful, has brilliant game play, vo work, Ashley did not cause me too much trouble, albeit I was playing on an easy skill...possibly too easy for a change. It is likely I will play with new " Mafia" style clothes (yes I am over 50 years old) special mention for Ada, damn she looked good.

Turning an arcade action scroller into a metroidvania might not have been the greatest idea, but it worked well enough.

1. Death Mark II (Switch) (29/2/24) 8/10
Finally, a completion. Sequel to the first lerson VN/Horror bybrid, but now in a side scrolling style. The new graphic style works though. Finished the main game with bad, good and true endings and the short bonus DLC chapter, collecting all Lost Souls on the way.
The story is still fun in the way it plays with traditional Japanese horro characters, and the music and sound works well, along with the creature designs. Characters are a little more generic though. A little easy but I enjoyed it. Be warned you do still get slightly more fanservicey death scenes for the female characters than the males. Obviously fairly low budget and probably played about 17 hours, but if you enjoyed the other 2 Spirit Hunter games ylu should like this one.
Also playing Infinite Wealth.

I’m definitely counting these games separately, based on length alone. They’re meaty games and there’s a lot of room for replay value. I’ve only ever finished the first two games, but I feel they’ve actually aged rather well. The controls are crazy, but not unpredictable. The level design specifically accommodates them and they look rather nice! Well, all except those last few ugly looking levels that somehow look even worse in the remaster.
Now I’m cracking on with Chapter 2 of Dragon Quest 11 and waiting for the other half to get a move on and Play Tomb Raider 2 with me.

The PS2 game is one of my absolute favourite games of all time and I replayed it yet again when it released last year on PS4.
This remake is the absolute gold standard of remakes. The step forward is absolutely night and day, so much new content whilst bringing all the quality of life improvements you'd expect. Graphics are amazing and all the new direction is spot on.
10/10, a masterpiece.
Now for FFVII Rebirth which I suspect is not the gold standard of remakes considering it's not a remake...

Bought this morning as on sale and been on my watchlist for ages. Lovely little game and yes, incredibly short. But nice story and I bloody love Indian food.
Now to return to...sigh...FFVII Rebirth. Managed about three hours in the last week, just finding it similar to Crisis Core in some regards, i.e. dull as fuck with really weirdly poorly animated NPCs considering the budget. But I've heard it gets good and definitely didn't get glowing reviews because it's FFVII.

Was on the lookout for a mobile game given I've been away, and this is how it should be done. Yes you have to have Netflix, but this means there are zero IAP's whatsoever and you can just play the game. Very cute and stylish, Hotline style gameplay. Yes, some won't get on with the on screen controls and yes, all the stages are pretty much the same, but I found it pretty compulsive.

Very poor and dull walking sim from wiki: A gifted young scientist, Mia Lorenson, wakes up in an abandoned hospital full of questions—and precious few answers. What happened to her? What happened to... The Edge of Life is an interactive experience reflecting on feelings of uncertainty, isolation. From me: Interesting premise but sadly just so dull, even though it was barely 2 hours long it overstayed its welcome.

Ghost of Tsushima directors cut main story dlc. Absolutely brilliant just like the main game. I think it took me around 6 hours, still have lots of sides and activities to do. It fleshed out more of Jin's (I love Jin) backstory and added a few new things into the mix. The new area was a thing of beauty, I mean just how good looking is this game. I think other than Gears 6 news I am most excited for Got2 info, hopefully sometime this spring or summer.

I found it to be a chore due to the awful enemy sponges, probably around 9-10 hours to finish. I do like the series (love R3) and had never played this, it was free on PS. The story was actually pretty engaging and as you will see from my play time it is a pretty big game, especially as it was originally on the psp, it is pretty ugly mind you and very, very brown! One thing I was pissed off about was not getting the final level trophy and therefore not getting 100% and a Plat. I know this doesn't really matter but it would have been nice as I only have a few.
11: Outerworlds (ps5/ps+) beat on 21/03/24. 7/10
Enjoyable if not overly engaging rpg from Obsidian. It is also pretty short, I seemed to get to the end fairly quickly even with doing lots of sides, although in fairness I only found 2 companions (one of them was not the bot on my ship! maybe I needed to look around a bit more) I did enjoy the humour, characters and gunplay. I thought the planets were a bit boring though and lacked variety. I have the complete edition and just started the dlc.

Getting the Soma writer on board seems to have paid off, and the developers appear to at least have an understanding of what made the original AitD tick... even though they did fail at making a game that is much fun to play. I guess it's better than what I had expected though.

This might well be the biggest game I finish this year. I finished chapter 1 last summer, before taking an extended break from the game until February, this year. I’m going to have to do the same with chapter 3 as otherwise I won’t get anything else finished. I’m at 99 hours playtime after the credits rolled. That’s roughly 50 hours per chapter, so I don’t really want to commit another 50 just yet.
Now it’s a case of what to play next. I’ve got Pikmin 4 (unplayed) and Advanced Wars (unfinished) on Switch. But I’ve also got Resident Evil 2 (played as Leon) and Resident Evil 3 (unplayed) on Series X looking at me from the gaming shelf. I should probably get on with the spooky games before the feeling of late spring/early summer kicks in.

Never mind that last post. I dug out and finished the campaign for Splatoon today. Turns out I was just 5 stages from the end of the game when I put it down and I could do with some practice before heading back online with the game over the summer!

It's a card battler with a small open world. There are still a few characters I haven't tried, a few souls not yet saved from corruption, a person that hasn't joined the hub yet and lots of unlocks left over. But the so-called "True Final Boss" has been "defeated", which seems a good point to consider it completed. The rest of the stuff is a little too much like 100-percenting it and as the game is pretty random about all of that... Still, I'll probably keep playing it for a while.

Thoroughly enjoyed replaying this. So much so that I’m diving in for a second playthrough immediately, for the “2nd run” campaign. Not sure if it’s in the spirit of the challenge to add completing that as another entry, but it’s not going to stop me playing it either way.

Really good and a massive improvement on Remake. Still plays like a 360/PS3 era game which all Square games seem to do, odd for games of their budget they don't have the improvements of the PS4 era onwards. Looked nice though, probably where the budget goes.
Grandia is next up, although likely will play Dredge first to break up JRPG after JRPG as I struggle to get into them without a short break.

This grew on me way more than I expected. Very old school with not much in the way of original ideas but the combat and progression is very satisfying. Worth a blast.

A lovely little Zelda/Dark Souls mash-up that offers up a nice little story and doesn’t outstay it’s welcome. I have been sitting on this one for far longer than it deserved.
Now back to Advanced Wars and Splatoon. And then maybe Resi 3.

1. Death Mark II (Switch) (29/2/24) 8/10 2. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (PS5) (12/4/24) (9/10)
After 128 hours of in game time I have finally finished this with all side atories, Amon fights, memories, dondoko, sujimon, matches etc. 61/65 trophies (95%). A very big game, but an enjoyable one. Played in Japanese but the English speaking setting definitely has a level of disconnect you don't get in the normal settings in Japan. Story was decent enough, but could be a lot worse for people who only played LaD 7 as Kiryu's side relies on a LOT of nostalgia in his story. Gameplay improved over 7 with a more rwfined battle system. Another good entry with some fun new minigames (Crazy Delivery, Sicko Snap) and arcade games (Spikeput's first home version).
Maybe finish off God of War Ragnarok I stopped to play this next. Progress super slow this year.

Fucking hell that was absolutely wonderful. Games like this and Dave the Diver are just immense, really keen to find another similar type game to do after my next game. Pacific Drive looks like it may well do that.
Next game is the almighty Grandia, insane it took over 5 years for them to bring the HD collection to PS but it's finally here and I get to replay two of my fav games on a current console, bosh!!
