Campbell the huge fan of Scottish independence while having lived in Bath since the early nineties.

Many memories, but ones that spring to mind are Goodform and his obsession with warframe and the meltdown over bonobos.
Also the racist secret santa gift.

I've forgotten his name, but who was the guy who was most likely long term unemployed, who constantly ate takeaway, would essentially post the tv guide and famously tried to trade a copy of the Mad Max game for a brand new game with someone on the forum?

Campbell going full into TERF-land was not that much of a surprise when you think about it. He’s always been borderline (?) psychopathic when it comes to doubling down on things. He even managed to get fired off Retro Gamer which from what I’ve read, and I’ve read a lot, is an extremely easy going magazine as long as you can produce good copy.

Spent it on a PS4 and drugs.

The guy who was obsessed with the Witcher 2 port on the 360 and how it would singularly delay or cause the failure of next gen, all the while calling it ‘the Withchter’ every time. Might be an obscure memory that.
The tardis girl.

Ha, not being a Eurogamer regular, I had no idea Stephen's Sausage Roll was made by a commentator there nor anything about the connection. RPS covered it (and liked it a lot), so that is where I knew about it and was encouraged to play it. Great little puzzle game (that I was never any good at). I was the commenter in question, I didn't make the game though, I was just a sausage admirer!

Burkey obsessed with Page 3, and then got really upset when we asked him if he ever had a real ladyfriend.

Even us RPS lot heard about the Darkfall thing, what with us having to send over Karen to sort it all out.

I really liked the Secret Santa shenanigans. It was something I looked forward to, reading about the finding of the colon snake.
I dunno, these memories make me sad for some reason

There were a lot of things that kept me laughing but one of the things I looked forward to most was Shadow Gangs. He took everything that was thrown at him and continued to engage. I still didn't believe it was a real thing all the way up to it being released.
Such a shame that there's been no promotion from him here with Shadow Gangs Zero (10 days left on Kickstarter).

Yes, endless respect for Mr Shadowgangs for the, er, endless ribbing and “can you make it a bit more Village People?” comments.

Not only Freddie Mercury, sorry, Eddy, but there was also the palette swapped Lex Luthor called Daddy. So I think the EG forum deserved a mention in the ending credits if not there already.

People getting outraged about the results of a whip round is my favourite EG/FG genre.

Did he just randomly admit to that then? Or was he spotted doing a line off the disk tray on social media or something?

I rarely frequented the threads outside of the gaming categories, so I missed a lot of this (besides the chair pooping incident). All this gossip I was missing out on…

Trying to remember some of the most iconic forum moments. I do miss Rod and his PI / Blimp shenanegans. The breadbin lid story was brilliant, as was the racist secret santa book. All Stefansens shit. Dale's heart cancer. There's been so much more though.
I like to remember the good times though, the nice things. The generosity of random forum members resulting in me recieving an xbox 360 controller for my son in a box filled with sweets (he was so chuffed, or the saddle I got sent for my bike. The game(s) I got gifted out the blue as recently as last year. The support this place and it's previous incarnation gives to members in need, how everyone rallies round (even if the cause wasn't always genuine *cough* aformentioned Jivehound story *cough*). All the support a bunch of miserable middle aged men give each other when it matters. How nice the EG/FG forum can actually be and what a decent bunch of fucking weirdos everyone is. There is the odd nutter and the odd antagonist but the fact they are all so vividly remembered shows how rare they were. In an age where every online social interaction space can soon turn into a cesspit. This place and it's ancestor are/were a godsend.

Did he just randomly admit to that then? Or was he spotted doing a line off the disk tray on social media or something? Pretty sure he just admitted it. The thing is, he obviously wasn't in a good way, because that wasn't rational, and that's a shame. He no doubt had good intentions for the money but if you're in a pit of despair, then a quick endorphin hit of, well, gaming and drugs, could have been the thing he thought he needed.
