Wait... it was Ed Zitron who reviewed that? I love that guy, he's doing amazing work at the moment. I completely forgot he wrote for EG.

I met Dan Whitehead at a comic convention, as he was flogging his comics. He told me he enjoyed reading all the angry comments when he reviewed a game poorly that everyone liked. What a troll.

I never saw any Eurogamer magazines in the shops after that so I guess their boycott worked

One of mine was the time EG reviewing some janky RPG and the entire community descended upon the comments and there ended up being some mad guy who make a YouTube video where he just seemed to say "Eurogamer foooooooo, foooooo" I can't remember the name of the game however. Darkfall! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw2-3IiOPA8Oh god, it's even better than I remember it. "Carebear moron" and "Pre-patch fire kicks baby" ;D Harks back to such an innocent time when that was the pinnacle of internet rage, rather than y'know, Ed being SWATed or something.

Do wonder what happened to vizzini ... Oh my God I forgot about Vizzini! Was it PES and the goalkeeper? Also ass temps cranked. And the Gran Turismo closer to God post.

To this day disappointed that when he did the re review he didn't give it the same score again.
Edit: Oh you're right! Zitron did the first one then then Gillen the second. My second point still stands though.

The Arsenal EG group was great. A nice safe space for us Gooners.

(My other genuine great moment was doing a preview of the Nintendo Wii ahead of launch with Peej and Kay, who still frequents here, in this house Nintendo had decked out as a promo type place for journalists and such. We got to play Wii Sports and Zelda with motion controls. I remember thinking wow it was cool. Really interesting seeing Nintendo stage manage the whole thing too.) Heh, was just reading the comments from the top and was thinking about posting exactly this! It was a great day and felt so cool to try out something that at the time had so much hype (and hope) around it, and I remember we came away quite impressed. I also went to preview the PS3 a few months later with Peej and some others that I can't remember, and that was not as impressive. Winning the PS Vita just after launch was a highlight for me, was so chuffed at the time and I still cherish and dabble with it to this day. The forum itself had some interesting moments, to say the least, many of which I'd forgotten until a thread like this reminds me of them. One that sticks out was when an EG sock account (can't remember who now) posted a forum hate list and I was on it for some reason. I know the groups were a bit iffy but I really liked the Arsenal one, it was nice having a space away from the main footy threads.

It was at Radio1 and much more underwhelming.

Craigy, at the next meeting you attend. Say you have come up with something that will boost engagement on the site and propose they open a forum 😂

Has nobody replied to the ones asking what happened to the members of the old forum yet. I'm sure someone would just delete any links to here again.

Ha, not being a Eurogamer regular, I had no idea Stephen's Sausage Roll was made by a commentator there nor anything about the connection. RPS covered it (and liked it a lot), so that is where I knew about it and was encouraged to play it. Great little puzzle game (that I was never any good at).

My favourite front page memory was getting an early comment in on the MGS4 review to say how shocked I was that they had lowered the score to an 8 after publication just to drive clicks and quite a few people bit on it.
My favourite forum thing is probably everyone telling Stu Campbell to fuck off. Its a simple thing but its quite gratifying that everyone made fun of him for being an absolute helmet and eventually he did indeed turn out to be one of the biggest cunts in the entire country.

What had he done? Other than the bigotry later on.
